Hacking Newbie help getting professor layton spectres call to work

Hi guys

total newbie here and wondered if you could help me.

Im trying to get professor layton and the spectres call to work on my R4 DS card and on load i just get a white screen.

All other NDS roms work on the R4 card so the card is ok and working

Perhaps i need to download something new to get the game to work?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FYI i have not changed or downloaded anything to the R4 card since buying it.

Sorry for the dumb questions but im a total novice when it comes to nintendo ds stuff.

This is only speculation but I think you need to update your kernel.

If your r4 is an original or a 1:1 copy/clone you should use the Wood 1.45 kernel.

If your r4 is some other clone you should go to the site listed on the cart or the box the cart came in & download the newest kernel available on that site.

yes my R4 looks exactly like that one in the picture and on the box it came in it has the web address www.r4ds.com

so all i need is to update my kernel to wood 1.45 whatever that is??

You're Welcome, Just remember to check for updates occasionally.

It is very easy to update the Wood kernel by wi-fi now by pressing the Start button on the Wood menu, then selecting Tools & then pressing the "A" button to go to the Update Menu.
When you are in the Update Menu set the Update Module, Main Module & SaveSize.BIN all to on.
Also, If you like to use cheats in any of your games set the Cheats DB to CMP & then press "A".
It will then ask you if you want to update & since you do press "A" again.
After it is done downloading everything you will be up to date.

You might want to go ahead & update to get the latest Codemasters Project Nintendo DS Cheat Database.

Keep In Mind, That this will only work if you have a working connection in the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection settings.
