Well obviously the inside has changed as well, IF the spring has been removed. Maybe they are reffering more to the fact that the functions of the R4 are unchanged (electronically).

Due to many compliants of the TF card slot problem, R4 team has improved it and released a new plastic shell. No push needed now!

the spring mechanism is built onto the board though, how does a new shell help this until you buy new internals as well?

If you are going by the post comparing it to the EZ5, the EZ5 uses essentially a friction insertion design to seat the card (similar to a micro to SD adapter, just a tad more solid though), it doesn't have to be side loaded because the card gets held in quite well (but the shell and socket themselves would have to be changed to accomodate it, the pcb, not really).
I can say, without the spring or a bit of case for friction the micro does not hold in all that solid on R4.

Nope sorry, they're still there. Search for r4 shell. Black is sold out though.

most of the time when people say its broken, they just don't know how to be nice to it.

i see in the Chinese page 4GB. has that always been there? to me this means sdhc support. but who knows right.
Not necessarily... Some card makers have created SD and microSD cards with 4GB capacity that do NOT use the SDHC nor microSDHC spec. Should you choose to use them, you're on your own if they don't work.
Besides, if it did support microSDHC, wouldn't the tout the capacity as 32GB instead?
Arent the sdhc card bigger by a fraction than the normal micro sd ones?
SD/SDHC and microSD/microSDHC have the same physical form factor. It's the electronics that are different.
