We now know the R4 Team aren't giving up on the R4, Hopefully a 1.12 will soon be available.

It isn't spring loaded, each side has a curve.

how do you know its not spring loaded?

Because I'm not a idiot, read the fucking website dumbass.

Besides the existing plastic shell, a new design of R4 is coming out. (Refer to the below picture 9/10/2007)

Notice: Nothing changed but the plastic shell for now

Nowhere are they mentioning they have the spring is removed, if the only change is the shell then why would they remove the spring?

@Rayder

It hasn't been moved to the side!

The R4 Team have said only the cart got a change in style.

Just because there is a 'groove' on the side doesn't mean the micro SD card goes in the side from now on, both sides have the 'groove'

FFS.
Come on, don't act like you work for the team or something, There isn't a clear description on what the curves/grooves are about. We are all guessing, lets not go too hard on it. One more thing though, note that they mentioned the shell is the only thing changed "for now", we wouldn't know what more they might add in the later time when the thing is actually released.

Well if the MicroSD slot gets moved then it would look more like a original card

A new design of R4 has been released.(Refer to the below picture 9/17/2007)

Due to many compliants of the TF card slot problem, R4 team has improved it and released a new plastic shell. No push needed now!
An update, now we are pretty sure the spring is fixed.

It's probably just a new look. Probably just people were saying something about the old shell and the R4 team decided to 'freshen' up. Maybe a few added functions...

If ya look now, it shows 9/17/2007, dunno if thats a mistake or the release date?!

I'm betting it the release date.

SOOO if there is no spring, where does the TF card go? There doesn't appear to be an indentation up the top for you to be able to 'pull' it out. Maybe it will go in at the side afterall??

We have checked this new design R4, the Microsd Hold have design to like the EZ-FALSH V.
As stated in This Thread.

If the information is real, it will be side-loaded.

No, there has been no word about it being side loaded.

Yes, but there is a possibility.

Correct, so no need to hammer it just yet.

if it was side loaded it would mess upp the whole thing because the r4 loads on top and not on the side..... unless u have to open up the old shell put the chip in the new shel side ways and when u insert the r4 u put it in on the right or left

LOL Still doesn't explain why there is no indentation at the top to be able to pull the TF out....UNLESS there is one on the other side that we can't see...

If you took a pic of the cyclods evo from that angle it would look the same (except for the indents on the sides.) If the spring is eliminated all that would be needed is a small cut-out on the back at the top of the cart to insert/remove a microsd card.

I'm figuring today is the release, but dunno where.

when translating the chinese page it says:

On September 17 gets up R4 to use newly outside ?, improves the original TF card ???. (Is as follows ?)

Other packages of ?fittings not ?.

Edit, also if you look on dealextreme they removed the white and black shell replacements on the web site. As of time writing this atleast.
