Well obviously the inside has changed as well, IF the spring has been removed. Maybe they are reffering more to the fact that the functions of the R4 are unchanged (electronically).

All of the reply is funny

Hints: you cant use the new shell for the old R4

Arent the sdhc card bigger by a fraction than the normal micro sd ones?

if so, then how can we get sdhc support added in a firmware update?

the reader wouldnt be big enough would it?

Due to many compliants of the TF card slot problem, R4 team has improved it and released a new plastic shell. No push needed now!

If you are going by the post comparing it to the EZ5, the EZ5 uses essentially a friction insertion design to seat the card (similar to a micro to SD adapter, just a tad more solid though), it doesn't have to be side loaded because the card gets held in quite well (but the shell and socket themselves would have to be changed to accomodate it, the pcb, not really).

I can say, without the spring or a bit of case for friction the micro does not hold in all that solid on R4.

Edit, also if you look on dealextreme they removed the white and black shell replacements on the web site. As of time writing this atleast.

Nope sorry, they're still there. Search for r4 shell. Black is sold out though.

Yep, i see its back listed at sold out now, but when i wrote the last post the white & black shells were not on the site when i searched for them (they usually are) and was hopefull that the new black one was about to get released, about the only thing left to make my DS perfect.

Dunno why soo many broken springs for people, I've had my R4 for about 3 months now and no problems.

most of the time when people say its broken, they just don't know how to be nice to it.

I got sick of "being nice" to mine and occasionally having to retrieve my cards from feet away, so I fixed it permanently so that being nice is actually = not fiddling with the thing for 10 minutes every time I have to reinsert the card.

i see in the Chinese page 4GB. has that always been there? to me this means sdhc support. but who knows right.

Not necessarily... Some card makers have created SD and microSD cards with 4GB capacity that do NOT use the SDHC nor microSDHC spec. Should you choose to use them, you're on your own if they don't work.

Besides, if it did support microSDHC, wouldn't the tout the capacity as 32GB instead?

SD/SDHC and microSD/microSDHC have the same physical form factor. It's the electronics that are different.

A tad more solid? A tad more solid!?! I've gone through ten fingernails trying to coax my SD card out of my EZ5 without resorting to needle nose pliers or an ice pick!

Maybe it breaks in over time, but I'll never know since my R4 does everything the EZ5 does and then some. I only got it because I was buying an EZ-Flash 3 in 1 to go along with my R4 and the bundle price with the EZ5 was too good to pass up.

And not only is the microSD card in the EZ5 tight, but the EZ5 is also extremely tight in the DS slot as well. IMO it's a significant step below the R4 in design and build quality.

Gotta love the R4, though I do hope they iron the bugs out of the Acekard RPG. That has some potential!
