Sup, I'm just a noob here who has Homebrew Channel on a 4.1U Wii.
Is it possible to play imports/backups using just the NeoGamma R6 .dol file because I have not modded my wii except for HBC, and I would like to keep it that way so I don't brick my wii.

Like any other softmod, a cIOS is needed. At the moment, rev14 is recommended.

R8 may or may not be based on Gecko 1.9.2. WiiPower just got Triforce out of the way, so don't expect a Gecko 1.9.2-based NeoGamma in the near future.

I assume this points to

apps\neogamma\boot.dol

Is it good for USB and SD as the root?

I tried this from

sd:apps\neogamma\boot.dol
sd:apps\NeoGamma\boot.dol

USB:apps\neogamma\boot.dol
USB:apps\NeoGamma\boot.dol

None of them worked.It would say failed to find config file Press A to restart Wii.

Thanks for your reply. So could I basically use the cIOS38 rev 14 installer in HBC and then install NeoGamma on a 4.1U wii with out bricking it?

The dol in the wad looks for that .conf file to tell it where to look for NeoGamma on your SD card. By doing this, the channel takes up less space on your wii (although in this case it's only ~500kb less, but for other channels I know the difference is much more significant).
