please forgive the vague title.

installed luma and god9 a week ago, ran mods and gba/nds games no problem, and things ran smooth until tonight. i kinda screwed up my microSD card and i think that, in turn, screwed up my 3ds.

it can still load luma and god9 upon start up but anything past that causes an exception. thought it might be an issue of my messed up microSD not being able to be read for the boot.3dsx and boot.firm files, so i uploaded those to the root of a different microSD and tried to start it up -- no dice.

i get the same error message and details (included below) whether i start it up with no microSD or the busted microSD, but that could just be because it's unreadable now. wondering if i've completely broken my 3ds or if i just need a new microSD or something. i did forget to grab the error details for the other microSD i tried but i can grab them if someone thinks that'll help

if you've read this far, thanks <3

Couple of questions, did you use 3ds.hacks.guide?
Did you make a nand backup before?

The obvious way to fix this is to restore a healthy nand.
The 2nd, less obvious way should you not have a backup is to run the lazarus script. Don't ask about that right now as its a pretty last ditch and drastic solution.

so i did use 3ds.hacks.guide and i do have a nand backup, but trying to restore it from the screwed up microSD (turns out it's still readable) does not work, gives all the same errors afterwards

tried uploading the nand backup onto my other microSD and my 3ds actually does refuse to read that one and thus cannot access the nand backup, so i'm thinking that route may be a bust unless i order ANOTHER microSD and try it on that, if it miraculously works

You might also try different microSD/USB readers. Could be a problem in data transmission.
Let's also hope your 3ds sd slot itself isn't going bad.

Another quick question, can you make it to home menu and boot things like system setting and the browser without crashes?

i'll see about getting another microSD reader! considering my 3ds can still read one of my cards, i'm assuming/hoping it isn't the 3ds slot

i can't get to home menu at all. as soon as i get out of luma/gm9, it's an immediate crash

alright, after much anticipation, i was able to get a new microSD and card reader, and yet everything is still going the same. i'm thinking we're going to have to go the lazarus route, which i've looked into, but have some confusion about (mostly about getting donor files). don't know if you're still interested in helping, or if you even remember this, but figured you might want an update anyway!

ya ran https://3ds.hacks.guide/restoring-updating-cfw first to get that card set up?

The first thing you will look at is https://3ds.hacks.guide/ctrtransfer and see if that can help with the error you get

Are you still using the same copies of those files from your corrupted SD card, or did you download fresh ones?

@xylrue It goes without saying but, you should test the sd card with h2testw to see if it's faulty or defective.
Format the sd card as Fat32 32kb clusters (64kb if it's +64GB card) before and after the test, with the write+read setting.
- If it fails the test, then the sd card is faulty and you need to get a new replacement sd card.
- if it passes the test, copy the freshly downloaded Luma3DS, GodMode9, ctrtransfer files. And proceed with the ctrtransfer process.
Good luck!

Also try updating luma3ds to the latest version, essentially with a good and working sd card.

You should then try restoring your backup that was not sotred in the potentially broken sd card.
If you followed the 3ds guide, then you should have a copy of your backup stored in an external device or in a cloud storage.

Let's hope that your 3DS its internal storage (aka NAND flash) is in healthy condition. If that's not the case anymore it's pretty much rip, since that would result in having to replace the entire mainboard.

Cheers,
TalentX
