Hacking Need some guidance

So I got my old3ds in the beginning of this year and I've sent it to someone to hardmod it and install the emunand and stuff (it was at 10.something and browserhax didn't work).

It uses emuNAND9 and rxtools. It's workig fine, sometimes it freezes before launching rxtools, but it's bearable.
After I asked another question here, someone pointed I should be using luma3ds because it's more stable. I then installed Luma, but it won't run. It says my payload couldn't load. I read it could be because emunand9 is outdated.

So I have two options:
1.Forget about it and go back to rxtools
2.completely reinstall all the firmware.

If you guys think it's better for me to reinstall stuff, I have some questions:
1.Is emuNAND9 still the best option?
2.How do I reset my SD card without losing my save games?
3.Is there a complete noob-proofed guide anywhere in here that is updated?
4.What's arm9loaderhax?

1: If you want an EmuNAND, then yes, it's the best option.
2: Use a save manager like JKSM.

An entrypoint that gives one the possibility to load payloads before the system is initialized. This allows you to use CFW on SysNAND and the ability to recover from a standard brick easily.

it has nothing to do with the way emunand was created (emunand9) if you want to switch from rxtools to luma there is a guide for that

Copy the files/folders to the root of your SD, depending on your situation:

• Green and Blue for A9LH
• Green and Pink for Menuhax/Browserhax/Any other *hax.

You MUST copy the luma (green) folder to the root of your SD.

Starting from Luma3DS 5.0, you don't need firmware.bin anymore.
To use NTR, you need firmware.bin from this archive.
Pick the correct folder for your device, and copy it to the luma folder."
