Need help jailbreaking Ipod touch 3g

I just got ipodtouch 3g 8gb. I updated to firmware 3.1.2. I downloaded blackra1n and ran it with the touch connected to pc. The touch goes to recovery mode, but doesn't show a picture of Geohot like it is supposed to and just shows a black screen. after a minute, the program says the jailbreak is complete and for tethered run again to boot. i run blackra1n again, but the same message comes up again and nothing happens on the touch.

now i can't even run blackra1n.exe

i get an error on xp saying

"The procedure entry point QTCF_CFUniCharGetUnicodePropertyDataForPlan could not located be in the dynamic link library QTCF.dll"

i can't figure out how to fix it

the message won't go away until i close blackra1n with task manager.

it is not a usb error because the program doesn't even open up when i double click on it, i just get an error message

Place it in C:\Windows\System32 and start blackra1n again. You are most likely having probs because that dll is missing.

i still have the same problem as my first post. i still don't get the picture of geohot when jailbreaking. any ideas?

Are you actually entering DFU mode? And getting a white screen when doing so? If not, you're doing something wrong.

If you are able to downgrade, (which i doubt u can, but look into it).

1 - I'd go back to 2.2.1 and do a real jailbreak with quickfreedom.
2 - then upgrade to official 3.0, do a real redsn0w jailbreak
3 - and then restore to a 3.1.1 custom jailbroken.ipsw file.

3.1.2 isn't a big deal, and 3.1.1 is hot.

Your problem with blackrain is this.... once you run the installer and it completes. plug the bitch back in and do a restore of the ipod/phone/touch and you will be okay. I did that twice to my own and a friend's ipod, before running 3.1.1 custom firmware. I had a working ipod and all the benefits of 3.1.2. Also use hackulos or bemyiphone or whatever cydia source to get apple sync 3.1 in order to sync any "cough cough" games you may have acquired.

i tried it on a vista computer and it worked. i read that you had to run as admin and that was what i did, but that didn't work. when i just ran normally, it worked perfectly.
