Whenever I try to install Windows 7/8.1 on my desktop, it always says I am missing drivers (even though they just work fine) and ask me if I have them on a removable disc, I cannot proceed from there, I am on linux debian and this laptop originally came with Windows 8.1 installed
If anyone could help me that would be great, thanks

If you can boot into Windows PE (preinstallation environment), you could probably flash install.wim from the setup disk/pendrive on the laptop's HDD with ImageX.

If you want to dual-boot, you might need to do some trickery with EasyBCD (there are other ways, but I'm using EasyBCD), because you installed Linux first, so dumb Windows overwrites the MBR completely.

Or if you want to wipe your Linux installation, you can just format the HDD from WinPE.

If you want to keep Linux, you'll need a Linux liveCD (or pendrive) to partition your HDD. Otherwise backup your data, and you can format the HDD from WinPE.

You can read more about ImageX on Micro$oft's website.

Edit: you can use "diskmgmt.msc" instead of diskpart

Same as MarcuzD, im currently using Windows 10 x64 on my USB HDD, 1TB SSD (USB 3.0). It was rather easy, but running it on a USB 2.0 Port is horrible, so i got an Expansion card (USB 3.0).

-The End

Also, you can use NTLite to inject drivers into the WinPE WIM, and even convert Win10's install.esd to a .wim!
