For me, the very best is IanSherrard design:

It's clean, simple, elegant and look professional.
I've seen smealum already testing another design but really,
of this design isn't the first of smealum's choice someone should do a gui customization with it.

First off, nice job everybody. It's good to see so much support from the community.
Here's something based on smealum's own vision for the first release.

I'm currently working on animating the squares on the top screen, but first I'd like to know what you guys think. :)

We have a winner here !!!!!

Hey man that's wonderful to hear, keep up the good work.

Oh and have you decided what license you will release the code under?

Edit: thanks to whoever merged the posts.

on Smea tweet :
"ok i'd like to make one thing clear : our homebrew menu cannot load roms."

But like Homebrew Channel on wii Homebrew can be made to load them if that only the point you want it ^^
(I do not say I am okay with it or not, honnestly I want to see homebrew to see a day a way to manage games i "brought" on eshop with another account ( Ambassador program and due to a little problem I had to change my Account so I lost all my ambassador game but remain on SD card and data still on my 3ds ^^)
No you can't.
Game launching require kernel access, and this Homebrew environment is not providing kernel access, only user access (no NAND access, launching etc.)
Homebrew will be games, applications, emulators, media players, but not launchers or system editor.

i think thats the problem with making the 3ds homebrew launcher seem closely related to the wii homebrew channel.....people are just assuming "well the wii version loaded usb loader.....which means the 3ds one can do the same...yeah we may need to load a app to do it, but it IS possible like on the wii".........no point trying to correct them as they will just keep saying the same thing, leave them to it or the thread will be full of the same BS, they obviously don't read when people say its not possible and that 3DS homebrew does not have the same acess as the wii homebrew did

He already has a winner picked, seen a pic on twitter of the design on the 3ds
he comment here yesterday that he is just using it to build the menu for now but no final decision has been made
oh boy. isn't that nice and clean.

FYI no final decision has been made on the design yet. I started working on the menu saturday and really like fluto's water idea because it's nice, animated and you can do fun easter eggs and shit with it.
so to be perfectly honest, i really really want to keep the water effect thing. i also really like his logo but i'm definitely open to other possibilities, like what Arkhandar is proposing. now if we could have both the water and the clean logo/interface...

Wouldn't that expose the code to Nintendo?
Doesn't matter. They would be able to figure out what is being exploited anyway. Hopefully it is unpatchable, but probably not.

Besides, risk-reward: risk is making it slightly easier for Nintendo to find the bug(s), reward is that lots of people can contribute and fix the homebrew channel's bugs and add more things and whatnot.

Hey guys, some ideas from me, I'm going to do some interface mockups soon too.

Oh my goodness, forget everything I have ever posted on this forum because this takes the cake.

This is the best logo proposal in this this thread and I will be legitimately disappointed if something like this isn't the final logo.

If you want to, you could probably even animate it by having a little rocket go up across the screens at first. It does look very good.

but its a custom os for both of them
