It's just a big version of the forum icon. This looked better in my head lol

It's not bad, but I'd suggest making the S and the 3 less square - shaving a bit off the corners like you did with the D would probably help a lot. The S looks more like a 5 and the 3 more like a mirrored E.

I made another logo today. HBL for homebrew loader (or launcher (?)). It might not look like it but the logo glows. I think it is because the black contrasts too much with the white that it takes too long to notice it.

Cool to see smealum selected someone. I'd love to see custom skin support come out in the future, as there's some really cool designs in this thread.

First off, nice job everybody. It's good to see so much support from the community.
Here's something based on smealum's own vision for the first release.

I'm currently working on animating the squares on the top screen, but first I'd like to know what you guys think. :)

Gosh darnit Smea, this one is freaking perfect, If I have any influence in my life ever, all I have to say is use this one or one of the other revisions of it.
It is perfect.

Pretty sure the plan is for it all to be open source, so anyone will be free to implement their own skins.

Nintendo will be able to reverse and fix the exploit regardless of whether it's open source or not.

That looks exactly the same as this:

What does that mean?! Roms can't be a possibility, can they?

on Smea tweet :
"ok i'd like to make one thing clear : our homebrew menu cannot load roms. the pics you might have seen showed a test for ICON parsing code"

https://twitter.com/smealum/status/501890000045080577
But like Homebrew Channel on wii Homebrew can be made to load them if that only the point you want it ^^
(I do not say I am okay with it or not, honnestly I want to see homebrew to see a day a way to manage games i "brought" on eshop with another account ( Ambassador program and due to a little problem I had to change my Account so I lost all my ambassador game but remain on SD card and data still on my 3ds ^^)

I thought PS4/5 and Xbox One emulation would be kind of easy since they basically just a PC

    they sorta are a pc
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik

but its a custom os for both of them

    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source

I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm

At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.
