Now this is what the JLPTs should be like. No multiple choice in the vocabulary paper and you have to write your answers instead from the Kana you're given. And it's not easy

This "game" expects you to already be fairly proficient in Japanese because it uses a lot of Kanji in its context. Excellent practice for those who plan to take the harder written JP tests. There's also a built in Kanji dictionary which you can search by Kana and view examples of its usage.

Indeed. Besides, Nintendo already announced plans to make the DS more than a games machine.

The titles with built-in dictionaries come in really handy. The internet is great for free resources but, it's not like you're going to carry a huge laptop with you everywhere or even have free Wi-Fi access to check sites. Besides, with the DS you get instant boot

the whole game is japanese, there is no english in it, i think. it covers all the ikkyuu kanjis which is great for me, if the english meaning of each kanji was in there aswell, it would be perfect!

So weird that they would make a game for translation that only works one way ...the code is already there. To bad i would have liked to learn some Japanese

actually this "game" is not for translation, but for training your kanji-reading and -writing skills. many japanese people don't handwrite kanjis regularly (cause everybody is using computers), so even well-educated adults sometimes have problems with kanjis. thats why "games" like this or tv shows about kanjis are so popular right now...

anyone know if this works in reverse as well, ie enter word or letter in english and it will display in Japanese?

What you'll be looking for is a two way dictionary like Rakubiki Jiten.

Just in case anyone who knows a Sino language was wondering, he's talking about the level 1 (1 kyuu) Kanji you need to know to pass the level 1 JLPT test. Kanji isn't really divided into levels unless you're taking this test and you need guidance about what Kanji to learn

And yes, everyone can just type the Romaji equivalent of Kanji on computers these days, you don't need to know how to write them... Unless you work in HK and you use the Cangjie/Quick Stroke method of entering characters.

hmm if you are aiming for the ?? then having the english with the kanji isn't really needed, the meanings are explained fairly easily (I'm also aiming to pass it, this year I hope

But yeah it's a great game! at 4,000 ? it's a bargain

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
