I was at a museum for old electronics and toys and was looking at a magnetophone.... I used Google lens and it focused on what was written on it, "playback" was written over one of the buttons but the K was stylized and it told me it was probably a button to Play Bach. 😄

Maybe a little off topic, but that's my reaction on AI I guess.

k, indeed

For being more intelligent?
Question is, do you understand intelligence? I think there is no chance of AI being more intelligent in the coming 400 years. But it might be never, just look at us now and our systems, it's probably never. High probability.

Ai can do more than generate a funny picture or write you out paragraphs. I'm also not one of those that think technology is going to end all humanity. I'm having fun with it while others whine about it.

Yes, why not? I still don't think a large language model is actually intelligent... I think it's up for debate though since I've discussed this topic with people that don't know squat.

My estimate of 400 years might be wrong, it's hard to predict the future, as everyone who's tried has shown, we're all gonna be dead before some true AGI emerges, I think that's a lock when it comes to betting. Maybe you don't, we'll see who has the last laugh in our death bed ok (protip: don't buy a death bed).

It's more or less an advanced system of seo which we've already had for decades, social media just increased popularity over it and caused people to freak out over nothing as social media is usually designed to do.

I agree, I think it comes from companies looking to get investors funding then goes to social media with some influencer parrots that make it go viral.

That's just what I think is going on, I'm not sure, I don't follow the news at all, so very little has an impact on my life that it's not worth the effort. I've always had this belief though, even since I was a child.

Do you think we'll have AGI within our lifetime? I certainly don't, and I also don't believe in influencing someone to change their belief. But I would like to hear the counter arguments and what points to that being a reality within a hundred years... I'll be dead 60 years from now, no doubt... Not to go off topic, but isn't it fun viewing all these people thinking they're gonna cheat death, Ray Kurtzweil comes to mind. 😂

No idea about the AGI stuff I just see the good and bad, bad would be using Ai to replace mental health services which some centers I know from others are implementing Ai to have conversations with people over the phone, the good modern dentistry for example Ai software is giving Dentists the option for more accurate measuring, ability to CNC in house new teeth for people in under two hours. When it comes to tech there will always be a good and evil situation that takes people time to adjust to the idea.
