I had copied the .firm file from the SYSNAND and booted into it using GM9. I was not planning to uninstall my firmware, but to experiment.

Things to note:
I know I cannot use unsigned and illegitimate software on OFW.
I know this might cause issues.

Things I found:
Trying to open homebrew and illegitimate software causes the "This software could not be launched." error.
Reloading the OFW causes the apps I tried to open to disappear.
Loading into CFW causes the missing apps to reappear as if I had just installed them.
(newly realized when paying attention) Some DSi apps (ones that usually come preinstalled) are not treated as new apps, just moved outside of any folders they are in.

(I'm sure a fair few other people already know all this)

what's the point of this thread?
This is really obvious stuff to those who are familiar with 3ds hacking, but raw beginners might not know this.

Plus, any thread that shines a light on the drawbacks of unhacking a system is a good thing imo. Can't have enough of them.
