You don't need to. People can just simply not reply!
Usually, topics are only ever closed due to toxicity (see the political threads for examples, honestly) and you COULD ask a mod to close it, but you don't really need to.

Report the thread with the reasoning or ask a supervisor. Threads are not normally closed by request often unless there's toxicity going on.
