Alrighty, so these problems started almost as soon as I had finished with my softmodding process. Games like Wind Waker, Pokemon Colliseum, and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance all freeze at certain points (Colliseum even crashes at startup). At first I thought this was a Dios Mios problem or a USB Loader problem, but on Wii games, such as Super Mario Galaxy and Xenoblade Chronicles, I will crash at points too, even with USB Loader GX. Xenoblade was what made me want to solve this problem the most, as it crashes consistently at the same place (A cutscene after the Mysterious Face boss fight in Gaur Plains). I'll be posting a syscheck later tonight, any help would be appreciated.

I have a similar problem. There appears to be nothing wrong with the isos or the system yet at certain points in games (any point in a game that takes ~10 or so minutes without the external hdd having to load something.) This leads me to believe that its an hdd hibernation issue, which is apparently quite common, and I have no idea how to fix this.

Maybe it is a hard drive failure/bad isos?
your syscheck seems fine.

I can confirm it's neither. I've gotten the problems regardless of whether or not I've used a flash drive, or External HDD. My HDD is also brand new. Also, as previously stated, even my Wind Waker disk crashes, when it previously had not before I softmodded the wii. The disk is also in good condition, and we grabbed an ISO to make absolutely sure it wasn't the disk, only to run into the same result.

I'm clueless, sorry :(
Maybe an experienced wii dude will know what your problem is.

Do I need to change the IOS I run the games on? They're set to IOS249, which I had assumed was perfectly fine (A friend had me reinstall the IOS just to make sure it was correct), but I am still running into problems on it.

I have two SD cards: A regular ~1GB one, and an SDHC. The SDHC pretty much won't work on my Wii. All the HDDs are formatted to FAT32.

No, it stays in the wii just fine... At least to my knowledge. My Wii knows those files are there, it just doesn't like accessing them, likely because my SDHC goes into write-protection mode like nobody's business (A problem with my SDHC, not the wii. It freaks out on my 3DS and computer as well)

Tried that, didn't seem to work. I tried to install d2x to fix the problem, it ended up having no effect. I ended up reverting to my regular cIOS249 since d2x wasn't showing results.

Have you tried using Nintendont to play gamecube games or updating your USB Loader GX to the latest version?

Everything you've installed is accident. Please use ModMii and complete a full remod, then install the latest USB Loader GX, WiiFlow or CFG Loader, format your HDD to FAT32 with a Primary partition and retry. For Gamecube games install the standard MIOS and get Nintendont for Wii.

Seems to have solved the problem, thanks! I'll update this thread when I get playing again if anything else happens to go amiss.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
