Personally I think Yu-Gi-Oh is pretty overrated. It is a good card game, but not so good as to make me want to buy a new revision every year. -__-

Lol at newbies thinking GTA is all about 3D. Don't try to tell people what GTA is meant to be when the first GTA you probably played was Vice City.

The World ends with you

I hate this game. I can't understand why people like it.

Oh yeah this too. Didn't understand the innovation,so I can't appreciate it.

Edit: Yeah Clegion probably knows nothing. GTA was like that in the beginning, not freaking 3D and different views.

I'll go with the phoenix wright games.

I spent 20 minutes on the first game until I realized there was no actual game.

You didn't know it was a visual novel?

Oh, and another overrated game... Metroid Prime Hunters. How could anyone consider that as highly as they do? I mean, yeah it's an okay shooter but that's about it. It's an achievement for the console, since nobody thought the DS could handle a game like that, not an incredible game of awesomeness.

I would have to agree. It's another Metroid Prime Hunters - an achievement for the console in terms of graphical show-offy-ness and how closely it imitates the PS2 games, but the game isn't all that great on its own two feet. People fanboy all over it because it's the best looking 3D game on the DS and it's Kingdom Hearts.

Rhythm Heaven. Rhythm at its best! Also frustration at its best, especially when your sense of rhythm is low.
I have to agree and disagree... Rhythm Heaven isn't over-rated IMO but I found extremely frustrating some games where I was having a hard time w/ the rhythm.

Shut up if you don't agree with me

Megaman. All of em. People think it's so good even though gameplay is the same (I'm looking at you, Starforce and Battle Network...)
Most franchises or spin-offs rely on similar mechanics so I guess you could say the same for ever "Metroidvania",every Rpg who copied FF's battle system and... pretty much every franchise out there.

If you're looking for a realistic driving... Mario Kart isn't your game

[...]I realized there was no actual game.
But aren't adventure games kinda like... a book w/ lots of pictures?

Now for my over-rated games...
JUS, it's like... a crappy SSB.
MPH, which has the worst aiming controls ever.
and...
Advance Wars/Fire Emblem games, which fall just like many games into a constant re-skinning.

This thread is doomed to be locked if it gets flamey. It's pretty much impossible for a game to be overrated. Simply put, just because someone doesn't like a game, it doesn't mean it's a bad game. In regard to this, the majority just wins. You can't please everyone and lets face it, most of us are pirates and don't even have a right to be angry about games we aren't paying for.

I will respond to this in a different way. Here are some games I consider overrated and I just didn't like. Many people love them, I just don't. I don't consider them bad games though.

- Grand Theft Auto CW (this goes for all GTA games which just don't appeal to me)
- Zelda Phantom Hourglass (good game, but I didn't like it as much as other people)
- Pokemon (any of them. They get away with repackaging the same game three times, and don't even change much between the successive generations. Good games, but deceptive marketing)
- Ninja Gaiden DS (the stylus controls were a turn off for me)
- Lunar Knights (take Boktai, remove all stealth and most puzzle elements, add really terrible flying missions, and you get this game. I'd rather have Boktai 4)

No one should care about this list or try to flame it. I don't care if you like the games and you shouldn't care what I think about them. If I don't like a game, it's not going to rape your childhood. Simply put, people have different tastes. Leave it at that and let it be.

EDIT- I personally like KH. I certainly won't attack anyone for disliking it, but people seem to be under some mistaken impressions on WHY we like it. Graphics are definitely good and made the game a hype machine. But I have beaten the entire game. It is not like other KH games in story, so you can't really say that's why people like it. The story is unique, the gameplay is unique, there is a large amount of customization thanks to the panel system, and there is so much to do in the game. It was full of content and even pretty challenging. I liked all the characters and the missing pieces that became clear in the series' story. Basically I just enjoy the game. I have very good reasons for doing so and cannot say I am a fanboy or graphics whore.

Oh I agree completely. I don't think this thread will derail into flames though, it's quite obvious that by the very nature of the thread, a few of your favourite games are going to appear in here somewhere, but it's interesting to see what turned people off about my favourite games.

.. *deploys anti-flame spray*

I'd have to say Final Fantasy. I've liked Final Fantasy on any other system BUT the DS. Something about it that kind of breaks my heart. ):

I think perhaps you miss the point. As a thread of discussion, the TC is merely soliciting opinions. I don't think anyone here's trying to convince anyone else that their opinion is fact, regardless of how passionate some of us get with our responses.

Oh yeah, and @ berlinka:

It's most definitely The World Ends With You, as well as The Legendary Starfy. I played the Japanese version of Rhythym Heaven, and it wasn't as over hyped/rated when it came out. Oh, and the Pokeyman games.
