@Granville: Completely agree with you about Pokemon. Can't believe they get away with that shit.

@skyman: "new pokemon available" That are complete repeats of old ones. Look at Starfy. "with new movesets" Again, they are similar if not direct copies of old ones. "new gyms requiring new strategies" What, kill the trainers pokemon in sequence, then battle the Gym Leader? BOY! That's a big change in strategy!

@Saito: ... I really don't want to dignify this with a response... But.. No. Nonononono. I have never played Kingdom Hearts, and do not give a shit if the developer helped develop TWEWY. I like TWEWY on its own merits.

@ShatteredScreens: Every game is repetitive, yes, but Nintendo is the only company to make the games in THEMSELVES repetitive.

@Harlock: Agree with you about changing Kirby. We already had Yoshi Touch n' Go. We didn't need Canvas Curse.

@Kingdom: "Like the guy who played PW for 20 minutes. It is an awesome game." Game implies some more interaction than PW has, IMO. PW is more of a graphic novel, or a graphic Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book. Not saying that it wasn't good, but I play games to play games, not to read books. Although I am trying to get into it, now that I've taken a bit of a break from reading.

I don't think any games on DS are overrated. Once you have people camping out for Assassin's Creed, then you have an overrated game.

Pokemon has a lot of new Pokemon. In defense of Starly (not Starfy, he's a Starfish that flies around the water saving people), it has its distinct deferences, ie moveset (Close Combat is a huge addition), stats, and generally being more capable than Pidgey. And there are a lot of Pokemon that are quite different. All the legendaries are completely unique, and while some Pokemon may have similar evolutionary patterns and looks, they are completely unique. You obviously haven't taken the time to play Pokemon and realize the differences. And as per gym leaders, you can't choose Charmander and defeat ever gym leader reasonably. You need NEW strategies for each one. Even if Pokemon hasn't changed its core mechanics since its Red/Blue days (outside of the inclusion of double battles, the special split, and the Attack/Special Attack move split), the mechanics were good enough to pilot Pokemon to become the second highest selling franchise ever, right behind Mario.

What do you have against Kingdom Hearts? I actually think its a genius marketing concept that Nintendo should've used instead of dropping its pants and constantly shitting out incredibly dumbed down games. You bring the hardcore gamers in with Final Fantasy concepts and the action, and bring kids in with Disney characters and cheesy life lessons. It's like Pokemon. Have you even given it a shot? I wrote off Kingdom Hearts at first as a stupid game with stupid characters, but after playing it I was completely engrossed. I'm not a fanboy by any means of it, but its definately a great series. And if it helps, developers nowadays don't really mean much. High Voltage, whose behind The Grinder and The Conduit, was also behind Dora Saves the Snow Princess. I'm not joking, check their site.

I actually find Nintendo games to not being repetitive. I've played Twilight Princess through atleast 4 times and found it every bit enjoyable every time. The only game I find to get repetitive is Metroid Prime, since its essentially (in my opinion) wandering around aimlessly with a completely unhelpful map until you stumble upon something. I got about maybe a little more than halfway through MP2, but just got bored and haven't played it in years.

I agree with your graphic novel thing though. "I play games to play games" definately sums up my feelings about it. You might as well pop in a movie and get the same effects minus all the pointless point-and-click scenarios that pop up now and then. I've also taken a break from reading. I have a feeling it'll be done in the next 50 years, except for this dumb book I have to read for my social studies honors class.

My most over rated DS game is soma bringer DS.. i just don't like it and I think it's stupid when you choose a character you always need to follow the guy with the red hair's story line (for as long as I played) And I just don't like that .. >.

@Pokemanz Talk: I have played all the generations of Pokemon, most of them through to the end (except the most recent one.) I agree with the legendaries being Unique, but unique doesn't always equal good.

Most of the more recent legendaries look like my brother's drawings. (He's 6.)

I don't argue that Pokemon hasn't earnt its place in the best selling Nintendo franchises, but rather if it deserves it. I would argue that Pokemon games have a lot more stuff similar to previous games in the series, not just in terms of game concepts and mechanics, but also the actual Pokemon being reused, and in fact with entire games just being remade (Leaf Green, Heart Gold). I would say that the G/S/C generation of Pokemon is the best designed, in terms of aesthetics.

@Kingdom Hearts Talk: I wasn't dumping on KH at all, I've been told by numerous people that it's awesome and the only reason I haven't played it is because I don't have a PS2. Rather, I was dumping on the guy who said that all the people who love TWEWY only love it because the lead designer was involved in KH. I didn't even know that until he said it, so he was clearly incorrect.

@Reading: Yeah, I agree. There's nothing a game with "interaction" can add to the experience, at least on the DS. Sure, you can add to the immersion of the story, but IMO books already do a fine job of immersing someone. What book are you reading for Social Studies?
