you need patches to ES to use eshop dumps, regardless of source, even if you did it yourself, as you are still pirating the ticket into the common ticketbin instead of signed into the private ticketbin (i.e. sys-patch is needed)
Thank you so much for your help. I am sorry to sound very dim but what do you mean by ES? Also, my other game I bought and dumped at the same time worked. Just checked - I have sys-patch, I got the update pack from HATS

ES Patches are required to run the game, if you are using syspatch if you got corrupted games, reinstall the games.

ES, an official sysmodule from nintendo, titleid/program id: 0100000000000033 https://switchbrew.org/wiki/ETicket_services
it's the module responsible for the backend of eshop, related to tickets, (NS - 010000000000001F https://switchbrew.org/wiki/NS_services being the one who handles parts of how cartridges and digital temporary licenses are handled)

i don't support HATS in any shape or form, it's a bloated bundle which at times has included what I would consider a malicious alteration to package3 (specifically to mesosphere/the kernel) only causing problems for end users on firmware 21.0.0 and above - would recommend removing, replacing with official atmosphere and sys-patch from the respective repositories only, at least until he stops doing that, and doesn't do it again in the future, as identifying who is the source of problems when they somehow find their way asking for help in support channels, it turns out one or more parts of HATS bundle is culprit

the moment "HATS" went beyond just bundling official hekate, official atmosphere and patches (sys-patch), is when it just became annoying to deal with in support ecosystem tbh (Hekate Atmosphere Sigpatches/HATS - not more, not less)
