Castlevania, personally. I find it incredibly slow, boring, and an incredibly outdated game that hasn't done anything new to make it worthwhile.
OMG someone finally said it. I absolutely can't stand those games for precisely the reasons you named.

It's most definitely The World Ends With You, as well as The Legendary Starfy. I played the Japanese version of Rhythym Heaven, and it wasn't as over hyped/rated when it came out. Oh, and the Pokeyman games.
The world ends with you definitely is not over rated!

Yup. TWEWY isn't that great, played it and got bored after 10 minutes. Same with Starfy.

I like Pokemon games though.

I'm exactly opposite lol, once I got into TWEWY (took a while) it's still one of my top games, the battles were fast and hectic, like usually dont last more than a few seconds AND it can be played differently in sooooo many ways depending which powers you equip.
Pokemon on the other hand.. very slow battles, same art style over the years but with colour and bit of 3d etc felt like I've played this a decade ago, which i have *cough pokemon red cough*, 'Pokemon' as a whole, is very likable though.. since i grew up with it, but all that is just my opinion of course

LOL I always hate threads like this because they usually turn into, "Lets piss on popular games that everyone likes."

But if I had to chose one it would have to be Chrono Trigger DS. Its probably one of my favorite RPGs of all time. (even played in Japanese when it first came out on SFC) But I feel like it was a kind of shabby port IMO. The extras sucked, the FMVs had been seen before on PSX, the new translation wasn't up to the usual square-enix caliber, and the touch control added nothing. Don't get me wrong as its one of my favorite games of all time, but I find it disconcerting that people consider it to be the greatest RPG on the DS. Its just a ported SNES game guys!

I agree with you Goshogun in entirely... i bought the game but decided a week or so later it wasn't worth it... I know it is a good game but it could not really something you can improve on

so Chrono trigger
GTA Chinatown wars
Pokemon Platinum was a bit overated for the same reasons with Chrono trigger

so... when you make a game make it good and then make another game thats better

I don't think Phoenix Wright is over-rated. Maybe I'm a bit biased here, but for fans of this type of game, or maybe not even, it's a really good, funny game. But there's gonna be a lot of people who don't like it. So I don't find it over-rated at all, just a difference in preferences.
Also Rhythm Heaven? I think it deserves it's praise like Warioware. Again, maybe not for everyone, but it's just too catchy and fun. And I think it has a good amount of challenge. (Although one thing I hated, was taking the time to get a nice little "perfect" underneath every single game. It made it feel all nice and complete. But then after time they go away and you have to get them back.... Argh??)

TWEWY, though. Completely over-rated. It hurt to play this game. Mentally. From the random (japanese?) music, to the dumb story, unrealistic art - and I'm not saying it's bad, but just look at the girl/forgethername's "shocked" expression. Then you'll understand. And it was annoying to play. Bleh.

And...

Oh yeah, FFTA2. Not great. I'd like to enjoy it some more, but. Yeah. It's not great.
Sonic Rush Adventure was disappointing.

And I only thought about this because someone else mentioned it, but.
The DS Megaman games. People call them some of the best DS games... But why??
It's not that they have great story at all. So naturally you would think it has good gameplay?
But it doesn't. I'm thinking of the Starforce games, but even the other one was boring although better than the later ones. I mean, why is Megaman a card game? It really confuses me how people enjoy it.

And, yeah, that's about all I can think of right now.

Draglade. I beat the fucking game with all the characters, and I really wanted the time wasted into it back. Tries to be unique, but utterly fails. Awful characters, extremely average music, hollow and shallow combat, incredibly generic storyline, and very short. This isn't even a decent game. I can't even say that its mediocre at best.

Final Fantasy IV. I beat the game, even at it's brutal difficulty, and I gotta say, I was disappointed. Many of the FF fans told me that it was one of the better final fantasies, and what did I get? A rather typical RPG with a good story. While it's still a solid game, I just never felt that the story was in anyway, epic. I mean sure,
Golbez and Cecil being brothers
are a surprise, but throughout the game, everyone was being mind controlled. The plot twists felt rather weak, and never seem like a big surprise, besides the spoiler I just said. Not only that, only
Tellah died
. Everyone else was fine regardless of what they went through.

Because games themselves are incredible subjective, people are constantly calling games that are given high scores over-rated, just because they don't fit their personal preference for vidya. Whatever I guess I'll just continue that trend.

TWEWY
I got fairly far and I still have no idea what all the hype was about. I just was never excited by the gameplay, and the story didn't really interest me.

Chrono Trigger
Why an almost direct port of a Super Nintendo game is #2 on Metacritic is beyond me.

I thought that I had more. Oh well. I consider most games to be underrated lol

I disagree with most of these... I don't think there are many over-rated DS games. I noticed that most people that complain about Rhythm Heaven being over-rated admit to not being good at rhythm games or even liking rhythm games at all. I don't think it's fair to say the game is over-rated just because you don't like it. As someone said above, these threads usually end up being "hey guys, let's try to be cool by saying popular games suck".

Also, screw you Tropicana, FFIV was

If Pokemon is the same game as 10 years ago, Mario is the same game as 20+ years ago. And yet, everyone freakin loves Mario.
Every Nintendo series is the same every damn time. Every non-Prime Metroid is the same. Every Zelda? the same, too.

On that note, New SMB disappointed me, but its still a good game. Not as good a everyone makes it seem, but I had fun with it.
All Sonic games are under-rated, cause as soon as its Sonic, the hate piles on before anyone has a chance to ever play it SRA is a great game, main gripe is the music.
Chrono Trigger. Over-freakin-rated.
Starfy? How is it just liek kirby again? Play the damn game first, then tell me it's like Kirby.

Going through this thread, it just looks like you say the games you don't like that are highly rated?
I haven't played any games I thought stunk on the DS. Maybe because I only play games that I like?
I unno. I will give some opinion on games people have said.

Chrono Trigger: So what if it's just a port? NSMB is a game released how long ago with better graphics, and no one complains about that.
Tactics A2: One of the best Turn Based Strategy games I have played. A step down from it's predecessor, but still a great game.

NSMB is not a remake of "Super Mario Bros" with better GFX. Its a whole new mario game if I remember correctly.

Agree with you on Tactics A2. A great FF Tactics game! I never understand all the hate it gets. Maybe people can't get over the fact that its like FF Tactics Advance and not like the original FF Tactics.

I really wonder. I understand you all don't like Starfy for reasons. But its like Kirby? C'mon Nintendo never said that. Its you guys thinkinng its like that. The game itself is already a "Marine Platformer", nothing like Kirby. But yeah, it can get pretty linear for some (not me) and the cute style can turn off some people.

And yeah saw another few games.
Phoenix Wright: The story is kinda nice. But well its kinda boring. Could be because I hate mystery games
Pokemon Platinum: Yeah its repititive and all for most Pokemon. But Platinum is more repititve for me, its a great remake. But just seems not worth what it is.

In my book, the games go like this. FFT > FFTA > FFTA2

FFTA2 was decent, but it was just far too slow for my taste. Not only that, no one cared about the main protagonist, or his story. They didn't even try to put in a decent story. And the fact that laws only apply to you was rather idiotic.
