Now it might be somewhat playable.
It's still the same old archaic combat system at its core, but it's at least a bit better than normal.
But it's unbearably painful to play this on console at a jittery 30 fps.

I think it was locked at 60 on the PS4 Pro, I played on an OG PS4 so I don't know for sure. The framerate didnt really bother me but I am not picky about that kinda stuff.

Now I've got convince myself this is worth anything so I can play it and cry about how repetitive it is! Wait... No...

These delayed releases make me feel like I've missed the train already.

Goddamn, finally. I've been avoiding the PS4 version because it has jittery 30fps which is (IMO) awful for any action combat game like this, so nice to see there's finally actual info on the PC release. Doubt I'll pre-order it, but I'll likely pick it up close to release.

On PS4 Pro, it got up to like 50fps max, as it fluctuated. Honestly I get really motion sick with most console 30fps/motion blur-ridden games, so a PC version is welcome to me--shame all my friends who play these games have PS4s. :nayps3:

pls get gaming pc, senpai

I am a console peasant and probably will be for a while. I actually have a decent Asus with a GTX 960 but I use that for work.

Nope, 40/50FPS, sometimes it can drop to like 30-something I think

Hell yeah. For whatever reason I didn't think this was coming out until later in Fall, so good news there. Textures and effects are looking beautiful on PC. Too bad there's no pre-order discount, but that's asking a lot given this is Capcom.

Oh yeah even just a few google searches say that it never steadied out at 60 fps even in performance mode. Wow.

Well good to know that I am not soured by bad framerates in games. And now I know that I can just go out and buy an OG PS4 if mine ever bites the dust. I dont need a PS4 Pro.

Does anyone here have a badass enough rig to crank the graphics processing to 11 and break the knob off? I bet this game would look great.

I plan to give it a go at 4K even if I have to turn down some quality settings a little. Worst case, optimization isn't the greatest and I have to roll with 1440p maxed out instead.

According to your sig, we have almost the same rig. Can a 1070 really potentially hit 1440/60 on this? I'd be psyched if so. I tend to underestimate my PC so maybe that's totally plausible and I'm just crazy.

It'll do 4K/60 on some games as pretty/prettier than this, so really it just comes down to optimization. I go to 1440p only when I really have to, as was the case with Deux Ex: Mankind Divided when it first launched, but it might be better now that it's had some patching.

I wanna see what it looks like at 4k. Wonder if my system will struggle.

Edit: Just read on PCGamer (take it how you will) that the PC version will have graphical "parity with the console version".. But they MAY change that with a future update.. Um? Why?

that because crapcom decided to nerf the pc mustard race version on purpose to not overshame $ony's shitty hardware.

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.

It inserts a newline in a random spot.
