This is not simple, I think. I‘ve been playing a lot of MH Rise on my Switch with SX OS. I have also a backup of the save file done with Checkpoint that is already on my PC. Do you think it will be possible (once the game comes out on PC on january 12) to convert the save data in order to play with it on the Steam version of the game?

I'm sure somebody will have an answer on the 12th of January. Until then anything said is just speculative.

Is too early to know! But probably it will be! Just like with MHGenerations port from the 3DS to the Nintendo Switch

Sure, it’s just speculation. But it will be really amazing to upgrade the experience from Switch to PC without losing everything. I just want to know if it’s been done before, so it could happen again with MH Rise.

Well its finally out in the wild today!

Hopefully finding a way to convert a Switch save to a PC one will be possible.

That said the campaign is much quicker to plow through then any game before it so if I am forced to start over I suppose it isn't a massive loss.

Still holding out hope that someone is working on a tool though

I will be happy even with a simple save editor for PC, so I can transfer all my things manually. But obviously an automated tool will be even better.

Do you think that you can be banned from the game on Steam if you edit your save file?

Came here looking for an answer to this since I've just attempted to port my saves over from the Switch too.

Structurally they are identical: They are all .bin files, they are named the exact same and follow the same order when creating new data/saves.

It's just something within the actual .bin files that doesn't let them trigger on the PC version when booting the game, so the game says there are no saves.

Hopefully someone with more know-how than me can figure out what needs to be edited (and how) and make them playable on the PC? That'd be awesome.

The fact that are nearly identical is quite promising for a future transfer option. Do you think that the game on Steam let the players edit their save data?

They couldn't do anything about it in MHW so it'll just be a matter of time

This is good news. I hope that someone will find a solution soon. I talk with some people that already did similar things with MHW and they said me that is not difficult.

Anyone willing to offer some guidance on how I can dump my save from my un-modded launch day Switch? Will there be any risk of banning if I do so?

Could someone upload a full save for the Switch version? There isn't any in the save section and I can't find that big thread with saves on Android. Thx.
