Are you able to play DLC (not SW2 updates) with this? I’ve read that people are dumping their own games (I assume physical copies), but how do you dump DLC files?

I’m asking because I have a physical copy of a game for which I’d like to play the DLC. But, even if I legitimately purchase the DLC, I don’t want to connect to the internet since I prefer to stay on a low firmware version. The problem is that I can’t access the eShop without updating. Looking if there's a way to circumvent this.

Please, let's not start discussing if it's silly to remain in low firmware, etc.
(was my mistake to not purchase and download the DLC when I updated the console for the first time, didn't cross my mind 😖 now kicking myself for it)

Thank you.

dlc is digital only, with either personalized signed tickets and titlekey in the private ticketbin, or temproary licenses (via NSO expansionpack+).

Cannot be dumped or used by migswitch, cannot be used on other consoles, as the "piracy" version of dumping dlcs replaces the certificate / ticketbin append instruction to be redirected to the public ticketbin unsigned (using official nintendo game update certificate derived template from the cdn) (piracy version obviously requires signature patches to the ES module, as they are appended unsigned to the public ticketbin, meaning you need atmoshere/cfw access, making the mig switch redundant)

it's in the name, "Downloadable Content".

Nintendo released an android app yesterday, you can buy it via the app.
You can also buy from the eshop on the PC and put it downloading, you don't need to update firmware to download stuff (you do need to have the account already synced however).

It's very simple: if the DLC was on the cartridge, the DLC will be on the dump.
If there's no DLC on the cartridge, the only option to play the DLC is to download it from eShop.

Oh, it doesn't work with DLC. Thank you, I got wrong impression reading the thread.

Got it. Thanks.

I believe I have the console synced with my account. When first setting up the console, I connected my account and downloaded Mario Kart World. (never removed my account or anything else) Hope that's enough.
But if I connect to Internet, is there no risk of the console auto-downloading the system firmware?

So, to be clear. What I have to do is purchase the DLC from PC/APP and set as auto-downloading to the console. No need to enter e-shop from the console or risk updating firmware?

Related question: Could this work to download SW2 updates?

Thank you. Sorry if these doubts are dumb. I don't want to risk it.

Maybe if you have a digital version of the game? You might not be able to get the latest update for your firmware, though, and for game to work you'll need to update your firmware. I wasn't aware of the PC and Android app, though, neat trick.

Both my S1 and S2 are not banned so my game updates I mostly get from Nintendo. The dumps on S1 are mostly from a Russian site. The dumps I use on S2 I 'borrow' from a public library. They've been used by > 4 people I can assure you.

Both update fine.

Hopefully clears things up for people.

Edit: I do not play online multiplayer

I simply connect the switch 2 to the internet and download the stuff on it (no need to even have a cartridge in when you do it). When you have a previous console linked, you might need to connect both locally to synchronize the virtual cartridge thing (kind-of stupid annoying requirement) at least the first time. Then you can select the content in your switch 2 (like dlc's or updates for S2 you have bought... nice specially with the free ones :D ).
I don't think that if there is a method to open the s2 is going to be a software one.... and if it's hardware and it's not going to work with the newer firmware versions, it will probably have not much use as soon as you try to use some newer software... (probably simpler at that point to get a "the new oled s2" that by then might already be around :D:D)

Multiplayer doesn’t matter

If your switch is connected to their servers at all. Even with an internet test. Your logs are seen / sent

Still not banned (tm) just checked.

Keep smoking the good stuff and spreading FUD

Don't know what else to say.

It's amazing that 5 months in, we still don't know which is true.
Seriously, guys.
Can we just have people show photographic evidence of their unbanned, pirated dump using switch 2?
Of course, only for testing purposes, because of course we all own the games, we just want to test this.

So we know the answer. Not discuss the theory, but run the empirical, honest test.

Issue is even if soadowns has that evidence, it would've prove anything definitely. We do have plenty of switch 1 testing that says piracy=ban, so the safe thing to do is assume nothing changed for the switch 2. I'm not sure why Nintendo would be more lenient with piracy.

• I updated Switch 2 to version 21.0.0 and analyzed the compatibility changes in match version between 18.1.0 and this new version. It generally still works, but in certain cases it doesn’t...

• For example, it’s not possible to update Mario Party Jamboree from:
• S1 fw 18.1.0 → S2 fw 21.0.0 → ❌ Error

Edit: Resolved • S1 fw 18.1.0 → S2 fw 21.0.0 → ✅ Accepted
• S1 fw 20.5.0 → S2 fw 21.0.0 → ❌ Error
• S1 fw 18.1.0 → S1 stock fw 21.0.0 → ✅ Accepted
• S1 stock fw 21.0.0 → S2 fw 21.0.0 → ❌ Error
S2 on fw 20.5.0 did accept the update from S1 fw 18.1.0.

• Another example:
• Iron Meat on S2 fw 21.0.0 requires a mandatory update
• But on S1 stock fw 21.0.0, the program can be opened
• Sending the update from S1 fw 18.1.0 → S2 fw 21.0.0 → ✅ Accepted
• Variation transfer → ✅ Accepted

Mario Galaxy 1+2:
• S1 fw 18.1.0 → update to S2 with 21.0.0 → ✅ Accepted
• S2 → update to S1 stock with 21.0.0 → ✅ Accepted
• S1 stock with 21.0.0 → S2 with 21.0.0 → ❌ Error

Edit: ⚠️Danger: Update S1 on S2 corrupts data, game crashes; this didn't happen on S2 fw 20.5.0

Hmmm, level 2 poster, almost all the posts here in this thread... Hello, MigSwitch sales headquarters?
Hmm joined 2012? Talking loud saying nothing. Nintendo shill anyone?

Ad hominem attacks mean nothing.

I guess evidence means nothing to some shills.

Still not banned (tm).

this says ldn vulnerability allegedly was fixed, and ldn is the component responsible, so it might be it is considered a vulnerability whatever you were doing

Fortunately, this works:
• Tears of the Kingdom, local update → on S2 requires mandatory update
• S1 stock fw 21.0.0 → S2 fw 21.0.0 → ❌ Error
• S1 fw 18.1.0 → S1 fw 21.0.0 → ✅ Accepted
• S1 fw 18.1.0 → S2 fw 21.0.0 → ✅ Accepted
The game launches and works perfectly.

Is there something special about s1 fw 18.1.0 that allows save transfer without updating? Appears there's no way to transfer unless both consoles online and up to date?

Might have to call it a day and let the 2s collect dust (got both on 20.5.0) they can still access eshop but won't xfer saves without system update...
