Before you flip out saying"Yaay!!! New Metro game muthafwhakhaaazzz", chill out, because it's not really a new Metro. Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux are like a remastered version of the old ones, which still sounds great, because they state that 2033 will be completely reworked with better visuals and gameplay, and Last Light will receive a visual buff and some gameplay stuff. I'll let the trailer speak for those of you interested and for more info check out the sources below.

#1
This Summer, Metro Redux collects two re-mastered and improved versions of the classic Metro games -- Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux.

For Metro 2033 Redux, Metro 2033 has been rebuilt using the newest version of the powerful 4A Engine, last seen in action in Metro: Last Light. That means advanced lighting, dynamic weather, higher detail for characters with improved animation, more dynamic destruction, and improved smoke, fire, and particle effect.

Metro: Last Light Redux has also received a upgrade, including new melee animations and the fan-requested ‘Check Watch’ and ‘Check Inventory’ features. All previously released Metro: Last Light DLC will be included in this Redux version.

#2
Upon release, Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux will each be available separately as a digital download for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system and PC a suggested $24.99 / €19.99 / £15.99.

Alongside the digital release, a boxed compilation containing both games, titled METRO REDUX will be available at retail for a suggested $49.99 / €39.99 / £34.99.

Metro 2033 Redux, Metro: Last Light Redux and the compilation Metro Redux are scheduled for release this Summer for Xbox One, PlayStation, and Windows PC.

Dedicated Linux and SteamOS versions will also release later this year.

#3
Only Steam, Metro owners get a special discount to upgrade to the new Redux versions:
  • Metro 2033 owners can upgrade to Metro 2033 Redux for 50% off, and get 25% off the Metro Redux bundle.
  • Metro: Last Light owners can upgrade to Metro: Last Light Redux for 50% off, and also get 25% off the Metro Redux bundle.
  • Owners of both Metro games get 50% off the Metro Redux bundle.

For those of you who never played Metro before and would like to try it out, well this summer is your perfect opportunity, because if you buy the Redux bundle, then you'll get both games with every available DLC! ^_^

Pretty glad actually, I love the environment, aesthetic, and story of Metro but 2033 was kinda lousy in the gameplay department. People bitch about visuals but they seem fine, especially Last Light which looks incredible.

I'm hype I never finished 2033 due to lousy hit detection, my bullets would hardly hit yet the enemy would get me every time from miles away even when I'm in cover! Hopefully this will be addressed.
I tried Last Light but my laptop could only run it on low settings so I gave up after a few hours.

Supposedly this will only cost £30. If true I'll probably get it day 1!

Also this was already posted in the PS4 forum, but yours has more info I guess =p

Seems like the Metro Redux thread gets a redux of its own.

Sorry guys... I really looked for it, but didn't find it. It's true that I didn't looked in the PS4 forums....but the search didn't returned anything... :ohnoes:
T-hug, You mean I do a better job? :creep::tpi:

Excellent news for people like me who haven't played anything of this yet. I think I even have Metro 2033 from a Humble Bundle, so that -50% will come in handy!
Series seem interesting and all, I always like dwelling around in Fallout's tunnels, this has some elements from that.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
