Metro Redux is headed to the Nintendo Switch

Joining the Switch-port league of games is the Metro series, as 2014's Redux has been announced for the Nintendo Switch. Redux contains both Metro 2033, and Metro: Last Light bundled together, with remastered visuals and all DLC included. The Nintendo Switch version of Metro Redux will fit on a single game cart, and will not require any additional downloads, while those who prefer digital will be able to buy each game seperately on the eShop. Metro Redux launches on February 28th.

Moscow, 16 January 2020 | Deep Silver and 4A Games are proud to announce that Metro Redux, the ultimate double game collection, including the definitive versions of both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, will release on Nintendo Switch™ on 28 February 2020. Developed in-house by 4A Games, and containing two complete campaigns which combine to create one epic solo adventure, Metro Redux will immerse players into one of the most atmospheric worlds in gaming, fully brought to life on their Nintendo Switch™.

In addition to both campaigns, Metro Redux contains all the Metro: Last Light DLC offering a further 10 hours of bonus content. Players can experience life in the Moscow Metro through two unique Play Styles: use the “Survival” Play Style to approach the campaign as a slow burn survival horror or tackle it with the combat skills of a Ranger with the “Spartan” Play Style.

Purchasers of the boxed edition of Metro Redux will find both games and all DLC on one 16GB cart with no additional download required; The Ranger Cache pre-order pack is available at selected retailers and contains a Metro Redux pin badge set, Game case sleeve, Double sided alternate artwork inlay, 4 double sided art cards and an A2 double sided poster.

Those who prefer to download digitally can purchase Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux individually from the Nintendo e-Shop.

Oh yeah that’s what I am talking about the Metro series! These FPS ports for the Switch are just getting better and better.

Good that it gets ported but i doubt it will have improved visuals and at best will have downgraded visuals, it also doesn't help fitting 2 games plus all dlc on a single 16 gig cartridge, there will be cuts to make it fit. Remastered visuals is just a blatant marketing lie

The Redux games were both "sort of remasters" of the original titles that released in 2014, they're not saying the Switch version is going to have "improved visuals" vs the normal Redux games, they're simply referring to the fact that Metro 2033 Redux and Last Light Redux are the "visually enhanced" versions of the two. They literally would not call this "Metro Redux" if it didn't include those Redux versions.

And fitting it all on a 16GB cartridge is definitely possible, seeing as the PC/Xboner/PS4 version of the collection are like barely 17GB.

God Metro 2033 was so fun. I'm not normally the biggest fan of first person games of any kind, but that one just drew me in. I'm probably going to have to pick up Last Light one of these days.

They should have brought the latest one too, I mean I have seen people playing it in the crap GPD win 2 which is windows PC version and still kinda managed to play it with tweaks so if that crap can run it, I'm sure they can optimise it better for the switch and bring it...

Finished them on PS4 and absolutely loved it. I want Metro Exodus on Switch since I don't have it on PS4.

It was rumour and now it is reality. Again... Been rumour that Metro Exodus is coming after this. I hope so.

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
