I made a 3D Custom Main Screen:

lUSpo46.png

  • everything has 3D-Effect (MenuHax, Button-Input, Squares)
  • L & R have free space so you can fill it in - like you want ;)
  • *Note! 3D-Effect on your own Input for L & R :
  1. Insert your Input-Titles on the left side normal
  2. Copy & Paste your Input-Titles from the left side to the right side on the exact same position
  3. On the right side move your Input-Titles slightly to the left (like 2-3px) - by moving both slightly left, the 3DS will display both nearer to your eye (by moving right: both will display further away)
  4. Done!

My Example:

K5w2Nqb.png

  • L & R Inputs have 3D-Effect

Enjoy :)
Could you make a button-less one with "the homebrew launcher" styled like the actual hbl's title? Thanks!

Request: Make an image like the "An Error Occured screen", (This) is a perfect example but make the text say stuff like "If you are not the Owner of this 3DS, PISS OFF (Cute Anime Smiley Face of Some Kind?)". Ty :3

I wonder what causes the random garbled mess on both screens when loading homebrew, like just launching HBL gives us garbled stuff on both screens, and a lot of other homebrew act similarly. Wonder if it's be possible to get rid of that and just have a black screen, or even an image?
This actually happens because its loading Stored Memory thats being loaded upon Bootup along with Theme Data. I can confirm this because if you open up any Game that Soft Reboots and Loads a large amount of Rendered Files like Smash Bros and Press Home Button to Close it, It will soft reboot showing whatever was on Smash Bros when you pressed Home Button. (Only works of course if you havent set a Custom Image and for some reason doesnt seem to work on non XL 3ds's).

Just a little something I made a few minutes ago... This is the one I'm going to be using for a while. Feel free to use it.
I did add 3d effects to the image, and I think it turned out quite nice!

I finally got around to experimenting with making 3D screens for Menuhax. In celebration of them all actually working to some extent I thought I might as well share, in case there's the odd person who might enjoy a simple arrangement made from unused Mario 4 GBA tiles and random but mostly 8-bit Sega imagery:

Everything was created using Adobe Photoshop CC, I was a graphics technology student for a while :ha:
Basically, I used Snes9x to capture screen shots of the game, used Photoshop to create layers (Mario and Yoshi, Ground, Clouds, Mountains, etc.) I had to edit some on the mountains because there were bushes in front of it in the original screenshot but that was easy considering the game images are simple. Once I had everything layered and separated, I copied the layers, then shifted the copied layer to apply the 3d effect for the other eye (Left for pushed back, right for out, no change for no effect) Finally, I put them side by side for the final product. I can send you the photoshop file if you would like. I appreciate the feedback, gives me a reason to do some more work.

Is this what you were looking for? I just removed the N3DS logo entirely. Also, I tweaked it up a bit to give the depths more variety. Any other tweaks or edits just let me know.
Do you can send me the file ?

Oooh, me! Me! Me! I've got some!

Made some based on my boot.cfg that has 3 boot triggers (CTR, gridlauncher, and Pasta SysNAND). Not touching anything will launch ReiNand.

No Depth on this one, copied style from the original, but with different button styles and a different background.

Same story as above, just with a different background.

HAS the 3D depth of the original, but the buttons are not in 3D (and look kinda weird when displayed, but who cares).

I can post my boot.cfg, but this should be easy enough to duplicate. I set L as the recovery button in CtrBootManager, with X set to launch gridlauncher and R to boot into miniPasta. Setting R to miniPasta is perfect since R is the trigger to boot into sysNAND anyways. I can re-do these with any other CFWs if you guys like (I've got PSDs but they're so messy, lol).

Big Request here! Could you please make one for me using this boot screen and with "L" being "sysNAND HBL" , "R" being "Pasta sysNAND" , and in the middle "Select" being "CtrBootManager" and could the boxes around "L" and "R" be from this image instead? I like them better as they're slightly rounded, like the images for those buttons actually are when the 3DS refers to them.

You can have free reign on the colors and how you think the 3D looks best, ya know, something to match the rest of the image.

I know it's a lot to ask, and thanks a bunch if you can!

The latest MenuHax (formerly ThemeHax) allows a custom 3D image to display while booting. Let's start with a little how-to straight from yellows8:
The input PNG for this is located at SD "/3ds/menuhax_manager/imagedisplay.png". The PNG dimensions must be either 800x240 or 240x800. The first half of the image (in terms of pixels) is for 3D-left, the rest is for the 3D-right. The 3D-right should be same as 3D-left if no stereoscopy is used by the image.
:nds:So come and share those beautiful boot screens!:nds:
A9LH has implemented boot animations, so do you think we may see a debug free boot animation payload for Menuhax in the near future?

Sure. Here's the PSD. Sorry for the late Reply. Work schedule is crap and I've been messing around with some other modding.

I'm working on a DKC2 boot screen and will upload if I like the finished product... That one is A LOT more difficult then the other 2 I made but I'd hate to have wasted all that work.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
