I'm having a problem with my PSP. I have two memory sticks; one 4GB, one 8GB. They're both Sony labelled. The 4GB works flawlessly.

The 8GB, however, seems to have a few... problems.

I would copy games and homebrew onto it, and SOME of them would work. After I got a select few on it to work, no more would show up, even though the file was on the stick and there was plenty of space left over.

Troubled, I formatted the memory stick and tried again. This time, a -different- set of the games showed up, I copied the same files, but instead of, say, games A, B, and C working, games C, D, and E showed up on the PSP.

I formatted again and tried again, with similar results. However, I have now noticed that when I place anything in the PSP/GAME folder, it is automatically deleted. No, I have not played Rockband: Unplugged.

Go under video - memory card and click triangle - info and check if Magic Gate is supported. If not it is some cheap china card which could have fake memory space or coud be just unreliable.

Looks like I got a counterfeit.

EDIT: But then, the 4GB works perfectly and it's got...

I think it;s your memory stick.

They're both fake Memory Sticks, so it doesn't make a difference.

What I would recommend is that you format it through your PC and then format it through your PSP to recreate the folders your PSP needs.

...Yeah, they're both fake.

But one is less shitty than the other.

I'm 90% sure this is a memory card problem.

You probably got a semi-decent 4gb stick, but your 8gb stick is probably full-blown shit.
