Gaming Megaman Zero Collections

I wonder if Capcom will ever release an Ace Attorney pack?

the rom would be too big.

The answer is no either way. Why release, what is it, 4 games that sell for full retail price still for the price of one game at retail price? Capcom are about making profits first and foremost. Maybe next gen when people don't buy Ace Attorney on the DS anymore they'll bring a collection (despite the fact it's getting incredibly old of Capcom porting Ace Attorney everywhere), but for this gen, no way in hell.

As for ther MM0 Collection, I've never really liked Megaman and even disliked him more since he had the huge makeover. If I want to play the games I might as well use my 3-in-1.

So, I wonder if they re-wrote the games to work on a DS, or if they did something like put a iPlayer chip in the retail cart. If it doesn't use the iPlayer chip and they didn't totally redo the game ROMs, then I hope the hackers figure out how they made GBA games run on a DS by reverse engineering the dump. Because if it does use something like an iPlayer chip in the cart, you can probably forget about a working dump.

Either way, it matters little to me. I have all 4 of these games in my M3 Perfect already, so I don't really need this collection, regardless of the little extras they've added.

they added DS-specific controls, so i guess that means it's an actual port, and not emulation.
if the game sells well, that would be the cheaper option too.(recoding costs would only have to be paid once, an extra CPU needs to be paid for for every copy of the game)

Not only DS specific, but able to fully customize the controls (in the originals where predefined mappings)

i don't know about mmz 2-4, but mmz1 had a custom setting where you could change all buttons except D-pad.

What about 6 years from now, on the 3DS? All 4 MMZ games back then would maybe set you back $80-$100 brand new. Now all 4 are being sold as one at the end of the NDS' lifecycle at $30. I didn't make my self entirely clear I guess.

"I wonder if Capcom will ever release an Ace Attorney pack?"

Ever meaning it doesn't have to be on DS, and honestly I never meant that, I had 3DS in my mind the whole time when pondering that "what if" scenario. Capcom is obviously no stranger to packing up old games and sell them as one as a "collection."
There's no guarantee anywhere that Ace Attorney will be immune to that Capcom Stunt 3, 5, 7, 10 years from now.

Though I fully agree that expecting such would never happen on current-DS.

QUOTEthe rom would be too big.
Like hell it is. I think to my count there are 5 games, 4 being 64MB one being 32MB. And the DS max being 512MB. But I don't doubt that Capcam could fit 288MB's worth of NDS games on a 256MB cart.

The more each game has in common, the more you can save. Sounds, sprites, images, themes in one game can be used in the others. And they all share the same engine (If you can call it one) That engine can be used for all 5 games on one cart like that same engine being copied 5 times for 5 different games.

Think of Final Fantasy 8. Combined, that game is maybe 1.4GB large at the very most. A little more than 400MB being the game engine, GUI, game files, items, sounds, music, ect; and the other 1GB being FMV's, text, story sequences. Unfortunately for PS1, it doesn't read DVD's but 700MB limit CD's. Well you need 400MB To make the game work which means you have 300MB for the story part. But for part 2 to work with part one, that part 2 needs to have those very same critical game files, and then add another 300MB of story... You have 2 discs and half the story, so you do the same for disc 3 and 4. And having the same repeated files have pushed what was probably a 1.4GB game to a 2.8GB game.

Most multi-disc games I've looked through all share many of the same files. Especially the PS1 games, Devil May Cry 2, and I'm not sure of the 360, but prolly FF13 does too. I haven't looked through any Ace Attorney games, but I bet they all share some identical files. Theres no reason all 5 games can't be combined and fit onto one 256MB cart.

The Mega Man series (all of them) have a a pretty decently sized fanbase.
MMzero may never be as popular as the originals (for good reason), but it should be dumped ASAP.
