Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X to get anniversary cartridge re-releases

With the upcoming Mega Man X Legacy Collection, it's clear that Capcom is looking to capitalize on nostalgia. The company isn't stopping there, however, as Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X, considered as some of the best games in the franchise, will be getting a re-release in a new form. Retro manufacturer "iam8bit" is teaming up with Capcom to create a limited physical, cartridge-based re-release of the two classic games. These carts will function exactly as they did when they originally released. Mega Man 2 will get a NES cart, while Mega Man X will be on a SNES cart. They'll even play on NTSC original hardware, or clone systems designed to play NES or SNES games. There will only be 8,500 made, respectively, and there will be an even rarer "light blue" cart, of which only 1,000 will exist. Each will cost $100, and will include the reproduction game, a box, retro "surprises", and lastly, a manual for either game, written by Salvatore Pane (Mega Man 2) and Jirard "The Completionist" (Mega Man X). These will release sometime in September of this year, and will be available to purchase on "iam8bit"'s site relatively soon.

EDIT: They can be purchased here

The only real problem with this is scalpers. You KNOW they'll buy up as many as possible so NOBODY gets any, thus driving demand and prices through the roof...

Yeesh, reproduction carts are usually the cheaper option. MMX is the one SNES cartridge that isn't too expensive, too. It's MMX2 and MMX3 carts that are impossible to find at a reasonable price.
Exactly. MMX was still available long after MMX2 and MMX3 were out of print. It was a $20 game until at least 1998. I haven't looked, but it still couldn't cost that much to get an original MMX cart today. What people are really looking for are more affordable copies of MMX2, MMX3, and MM7.

Yup, about $20 - $30 for an ORIGINAL MMX cart on eBay. Reproductions aren't even necessary for that one at all yet.

*looks at original MMX cart selling at $20 on Amazon*....*looks at MMX Collection selling for $13-$45 on Amazon*...*wonders how much it'd cost to just get a repo shell from someone else*

On a related note, I have some bootleg Pokemon GBA carts. Who wants to print some boxes and go in with me on selling limited Mega Man Battle Network carts for $100?
