The dialogue translation is a fork of the original UI translation - so if you're running the latest translation from this thread (1.1.5) it won't feature any of the machine translated dialogue that @roks7074 has done with their fork
hello, im very new to this. so im not sure if i did it correctly or not but would like to ask for your opinion.

Ive downloaded the latest data and story files in the thread, decrypted edited and rebuilt the cia into a CCI, installed the update and DLC from hshop and managed to play until i enrolled in the meda academy,

but i noticed a lot of the text was still in JP, this includes general dialogue, the menus and part installation when we just got the medarot from the principal during enrollment.

Though from the posted screenshots it seems that most of what i listed should be in ENG, is the issue then because of the latest posted files? or is it because I updated and installed the DLC cia into the edited CCI?

Appreciate if you or anyone else could advise. loving it so far but difficult to enjoy the story as i cant read JP at all.

The original translation project from @Sotaeko isn't focused on character dialogue (please correct if wrong).
If you are using their latest update (the data and story files in the thread), then I imagine most character interactions would appear in the original language. The latest update for story patch stated it was for the beginning of tutorial and beginning of story.

If you are looking to play with machine translated character dialogue, then I recommend checking out @roks7074 fork of this translation that they posted in this thread. Their patch primarily focuses on dialogue text and is based on Sotaeko's translation. You might even be able to merge the latest data translation from Sotaeko with it. I haven't tried, but I don't imagine it would break anything.

DLC is fine and shouldn't affect anything with the translations.

Thank you. one thing i noticed as well is that items become "robo medal".

any new items i pickup become a robo medal and i cant use nor remove them.

Do you have any idea on this? I attached a SS in case it would help.

Whoa, that's a new one for me haha. I'm not sure why that's happening.
Maybe someone else here has encountered that.

Does anyone know a way to get the online gift exclusive medabots? I played this translation years ago (2-3 years) and I seem to recall having access to all medabot parts. but that save is gone now and I dont remember why i had all parts from the start of the game.

Aye, most medabot games have a debug mode that's accessible by doing the following:
Boot the game and hold L button + Up d-pad + Y,
When the Rocket Company logo turns to black hold R button + L button + Start + Select (It might take a couple tries to get the timing right).
The game should then boot into "ROM mode" and from here you can select the first option to start debug mode.

While in debug mode:
press B to open the menu and you can modify money, medacoin, and access the 0-yen shop where you can buy any and all parts in the game. This even Includes medalia you can't get through normal play.
If you don't have the DLC installed, then you won't be able to use the DLC parts if you purchase them here.

To exit debug mode, hit R to edit flags and change flag 16 to 0 then hit B. The game should then play as it normally would.

Sorry for noobie questions, i swear i read through the thread lol

-I have to choose either Sotaeko's patch (playable menus with little story) or roks' patch (story with no menus?), or am i suposed to copy one patch on top of the other?
-Does Roks' translation work with the 1.1 update or only 1.0 game?

Just use Roks. Way better. Only works on 1.0, but super playable.

Im using Azahar emu and when i try to enter rom mode it reboots. specifically holding L+R and Start+select...

is there a completed translation for the game? i got the Medabots9-Translations-1.006 and started using chatgpt to translate the remaining menu stuff that need translating, like the medadex, items, key items, ive been making progress with it, but if a finished version exists i would like to know
Post automatically merged:

managed to translate all of the medadex entries and some other stuff, will continue soon, i have a changelog if anyone is interested in seeing what was changed

Playing on Azahar, Kabuto jp + roks' 1.006 translation, the game crashes when you go look for the MC at the train tracks. The scene with the train Medarot works, dialogue begins and as soon as your starter Medarot speaks, the emulator shows an error message and asks to abort emulation. Removing the translation lets you get through the scene without issue.
i'll say if i had known better I wouldnt have used the story translation, the story is awful.

Update: it breaks again during the final boss fight, when the rescue club's leader decides which club attacks which part of the body.

How to use debug mode to give yourself any medapart or extra money:

Start the game with L + UP + Y

Then after rocket logo press L + R + START + SELECT

As soon as you press L + R+ START + SELECT and the screen changes you let go of said buttons.

In the japanese menu (blue menu) that appears pick the first option then in the next menu again pick the first option.

Your gamesave will load, press B to enter another debug menu. Press first option to enter the free shop. And the second option is to give yourself money. For now I didn't mess with the rest.

This is what they all mean:

•0円ショップ → 0 Yen Shop (Free Shop)

•所持金 → Money on Hand / Current Money

•ガシャコイン → Gacha Coins

•パートナーメダ ON → Partner Medal ON

•パートナーメダ OFF → Partner Medal OFF

•曲 ON → Music ON

•曲 OFF → Music OFF

•通信ゲームクリア → Clear Communication Game / Complete Online Game

•戻る → Back

To disable debug menu pick the bottom option (戻る→Back) to close the blue menu. Then press R. Then put FLAG(16)=0. Then press B.

Game should be normal again (pressing B or R now should do nothing).

You can now safely save your game!

Ps: Some medaparts require you to have installed the DLC.

Easy guide to apply the English patch:

So long story short I fumbled around with the English patch found here:

https://github.com/roks70/Medabots9-Translations/releases

So all credits to the creator of the original patch.

-----------------------------

What I did was that I made a noob friendly way to apply said patch. On this internet archive you can find said mehod and files.

https://archive.org/details/medarot-9-translations-1.006-easy-setup-v-1.0

This guide is for people that will be playing on a real 3DS.
And said 3DS is already softmodded.

Method 1 is the LUMA homebrew way:

If your 3DS is modded said homebrew is probably already installed. When booting your 3DS hold the select button. If the luma setup menu boots it's on there. If not google "Luma 3DS".

Luma will patch the game on the fly while running. So you just need to install the original JP game on your 3DS. Do not install the Update of the game!!!! It's safe to install the DLC.

Once you have luma installed you just drop the files from the correct folder directly on the root of the micro SD card of your 3DS.

Also make sure patching is enabled in the Luma menu, again you can check by holding select while booting your 3DS.

Method 2 is the create your own CIA way:

  1. Open folder "PackEnglishV12 (DecodeAndRepackTool)"
  2. Open folder "PackHack"
  3. Run SetupUS.exe
  4. Put a clean .cia game file of eithermedarot9 game together in the same folder as HackingToolkit9DS.exe
  5. Run HackingToolkit9DS.exe
  6. Extract the .cia files by using the command: CE
    1. Name of the .cia file, no extensions e.g. medarot9_Kabuto_JP
  7. Close HackingToolkit9DS.exe
  8. You will see 2 folders that we need now the game is extracted: ExtractedExeFS & ExtractedRomFS
  9. Now you need to use the translated files from the correct game version folder.
    1. Drop the content from the ExeFS folder into ExtractedExeFS - Confirm if it asks to overwrite files
    2. Drop the content from the RomFS folder into ExtractedRomFS - Confirm if it asks to overwrite files
  10. Re-run HackingToolkit9DS.exe
  11. Recompile using command: CR
  12. Name of the newly built file e.g. medarot9_Kabuto_ENG_1.006
  13. It will ask for two more things, just enter 0.
  14. This will take a while and you will have a newly create english patched .cia file with the name you picked.
  15. Do not install the Update of the game!!!! It's safe to install the DLC if you want.
PS: If you get an error repacking the game you will probably be missing these two files on your PC:

https://www.dll-files.com/vcruntime140d.dll.html

https://www.dll-files.com/ucrtbased.dll.html

Once downloaded the new window on said site will tell you where to put them depending on your operating system.

Final Remarks:

The Luma way allows you to quickly change back to the JP version by just disabling 'patching' in the Luma menu. This might be handy because some people have reported the game crashing on them in certain parts and this way they could quickly switch to jp version to get past said troubled part, then save and re-apply patching in the Luma menu.

On the flip side the Luma way does introduce longer loading times of menu's and the like because it's patching the game on the fly.
