Just wondering if anyone knows where I might be able to get the Slot 1 card for this? Or maybe an estimated price that someone has paid in the past for it?

I picked the slot 2 portion up cheap today... but it's kinda useless without the slot 1 portion :/

I'd ask in the wanted to buy section, but my post count is too pre-pubescent Q_Q

So anyone know of any other sites that sell stuff like that?

I've checked ebay and there's literally like -nothing-

Thanks! ^^

Edit: Ok i read somewhere that the Slot 1 device is only a "Pass-me" card to bypass security or something >_< (I dunno)

I have an M3 Simply and a DSTwo... Is there an "app" for either of those that will let me use the media player?

Thanks!

If you can't get it working, you're not missing out on much. The homebrew support is almost certainly better on both your M3 and your DSTWO, and media playback is much better on the DSTWO thanks to the iPlayer plugin. The MMP is quite rubbish really. It's better than nothing if you want some homebrew, but it's bulky and more recent homebrew doesn't seem to work (an update to libnds a couple of years ago seemed to break support for it in my experience), and in terms of media, videos all require being converted with special software, and even then the video player is pretty pathetic, doesn't even allow you to skip forward/backward in videos.

Check the supercard website, I'm about 70% sure there is a passme plugin for the DSTwo.

[edit] Yup, check your DStwo menu when you boot it up, there is probably a 'SLOT2 NDS' icon.

Alright, i downloaded the plugin, and tried it, but no cigar :'( Maybe it's broken,.

I seem to recall reading that the MMP only works with Datel's card, either the one supplied with it or else the Max Media Launcher (their "generic"NoPass device). The MMP is a bit different to regular slot-2 flash cards. Most are simply GBA flash cards, but the MMP is not. If you boot the DS with just the MMP inserted, it will say there is a "DS Options Pak" inserted or something like that. (Whereas regular GBA flash cards show up as a GBA game inserted). Datel's card accounts for this. Other PassMe/NoPass devices do not.

I believe the various DS Action Replay devices have NoPass functionality if you hold select while booting them, and seeing as they're made by Datel it's possible they'd work, but I can't confirm it for sure.

Honestly though, you're not missing out on anything by not being able to use it. I have a Max Media Dock (the version without the built in 4GB memory card, where you had to supply your own memory card), and it is completely useless compared to a modern flash card.

It isn't an ordinary Passme. Try downloading the bootme.nds and putting it on a flashcart.

If that doesn't work, I have a ROM backup of the cartridge. Launch that, and the Max Media Dock will work just fine.
However, I'm not entirely sure if it is OK to post it here. I'll upload it if a staff member approves.

i have a MaxMediaDock, which is basically the same deal.
Put this bootme.nds (the mmp 1.22 booter) on your DStwo to launch it to yer MMP.
Just dusted off the MMD and successfully booted to it from my dstwo.
hope this helps=)

edit: alternatively, you could put the MaxOverload.nds on your dstwo to boot over to the MMP.
MaxOverload is prolly the most advanced firmware that we'll ever see for the archaic ol' Max Media.
It has some cool features, like commercial rom loading, and the ability to dump your own DS games straight to the slot-2.

There was some pictures of a guy with a dog, a MW2 trailer, some Halo 3 screenshots, and 2 -really- crappy indie games, LOL

Thanks guys :3

here's a lil fun-fact for getting some unintended use outta your Max Media Dock/Player.
Use the usb adapter to connect it to your softmodded Wii and it can be used as an external/thumb style drive.
Oh oh are you talking about the one with the memory hard coded into it? Interesting.

I had the one where you had to buy a CF card and stuff it into the bottom of the deck. what a freaking pain.

ive got a mmd that needs its own CF card too, but the OP just picked up the MMP with the built-in memory.

Is that not fairly obvious? I mean, it's a standard USB Mass Storage device, and can be used for anything a USB Mass Storage device (like a flash drive) can be used for.

is there a fairly relevant point in you posting that? youve already stated how useless you think the device is.
way to be a dick.
I was just saying, it's a generic USB Mass Storage device. Of course you can use it for any task that a generic USB Mass Storage device can be used for. Not just with a Wii, but with any device that accepts USB storage (computers, PS3, xbox 360, some phones and tablets, the list goes on). I didn't mean any offence, it just seemed a little strange that you singled out that one particular use for it. I apologise if that makes me any form of genitalia to you, it was not intended to cause offence in any way.
Ah. Well the OP might as well get a real cart, Moonshell will do anything your looking to do and better.
They already have an M3 and a Supercard DS TWO, so they can use the iPlayer plugin for even better media playback than Moonshell. I think they just wanted to get it working for the sake of it, rather than for a particular use.

maybe i was quick to take offense, but your post certainly wasnt particularly constructive. I dont think its odd at all to mention that the mmd can be used as general storage device in a current thread about the product. what may seem fairly obvious to you, may not have ever crossed the minds of others. All i wanted to do is point out that you can still get some use out of the thing. the fact i said it'll work with the wii is because we've got a strong wii hb community, not so much ps3 xbox etc.

Is there any reason you want to use a Max Media Player? From what I recall it didn't offer anything any recent cheapo flashcart can't (and probably doesn't do them as well), and it had a huge "HDD" that would only fit on the Phat DS and like doubled the size of it.

So, did the OP get this working?

Music playback was ok, but videos were a real pain. I cant remember if you can run other homebrew on a MMD or not.

It fits in the Lite as well, just sticks out even more. But nah, it doesn't do as much as a standard cheap flash card. The one thing that springs to mind is dumping DS games, which is quicker than over WiFi seeing as it can dump to slot 2, and also doesn't require a WiFi connection with the extremely insecure WEP protection.

Yes, they did:

bootme.nds worked!

As for homebrew, most works OK. A few things (DS Doom, I recall) had specific ports, but it got DLDI support a little later on and once that happened, most DLDI homebrew worked, until a few revisions of libfat ago (which broke support in my experience, anyway).

Videos were indeed a pain, it was better to just go with Moonshell (which was actually the only option for the first couple of software updates; despite it being advertised as a "media" device, Datel didn't bother to include a video player in the first few revisions of the software, and told people to just download Moonshell instead.)

And music was fine, but certainly no better than another flash card with Moonshell or something, which doesn't require a bulky adapter sticking out of your DS, which is more convenient if you're listening to music with your DS in your pocket or something.
