ok kiddos, i just got indiana jones to boot by using a 34.4MB starfox iso and a retail indiana jones ( pal ). no mixing, no overlaying. tested on 4.2U if you guys cant get that one on a DVD5 then you dont deserve to run homebrew on your wii.

make the starfox iso...
copy the disc header from SSBB
mark the partition table as 1 partition, type 0, offset 0x50000
copy all the region and other crap from SSBB till 0x50000.
copy the last partition of SSBB to the new iso

my final size is 34.4MB total

boot that game. after the spinning "N" and "you need a classic controller" screen, the game is done reading from the disc. press eject. insert retail lego indiana jones. press reset. party.

i have not tried all of the partitions, but i have gotten some of them to boot. metroid and starfox both boot this way, but using metroid resets the whole wii, not just the game. ive also played zelda and ice climbers like this using sneek's DI, so you might be able to use those and not need the classic controller. and it looks like this might be able to be used to boot almost any out-of-region game on a no-soft-mod wii.

I'm guessing that starfox.iso was extracted/found in the masterpieces in SSBB?

well you need a chip to play the starfox iso. or else you need a retail copy of SSBB for your region and you have to start the game, and navigate to the starfox trial ( which is a bit of a bitch, and theres probably some other game that you can used to reset like this faster ). i think starfox gets to the point where you can eject before the large percentage of disc games. but other than that, there is no other magic needed for me to boot lego indiana jones from a region that doesnt match my system menu.

the "almost any out-of-region game" part is just speculation, as i have really only tried this with 2 games so far.

it appears that you dont even need the classic controller. once you boot the partition without a classic controller, it gets stuck at the "you need a classic controller..." screen. it is sufficient to just eject the game here and insert a new one and press reset.
So it comes down to something as simple as a disc swap? Wow. Good work!

If I am understanding correctly, then this means a pure softmod of Jap and Korean Wiis can be done via owning: both a retail copy of SSBB from your Wii's region AND a retail copy of either Lego Indiana Jones (PAL or US), SSBB (US) or Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's (PAL)... Is this correct?

Hopefully there are other games that will work to allow the disc swap exploit, but this is pretty great for now.

you cant swap to SSBB. it still gives the "insert the disc..." spiel. but yes, apparently you can simply find a game that resets the game and not the entire wii. then find a spot in that game where you can eject the disc without getting a message to re-insert it. then just swap your game and press press reset. so, no mod chip required. all you need is a membership to a video store or gamefly and 2 games.

Damn and I deleted my iso of SSBB cuz I thought I wouldn't need it anymore... shit.
Time to copy from disc again.

Oh! Does it matter what region it is? I think no, but I want to clarify.

Edit: Just saw the video, AWESOME job.
Edit2: Vid answered my question.

Great work giantpune but till now there's no way to auto boot SSBB USA to use a smachstack exploit since i think it maybe the only way to fix all Korean bricked 003 Wiis since IndianPWN must be installed on NAND before Wii bricked so it can by launched via Lego Indian Jons

holy shit pune! This is awesome! Seriously! U mighta just unlocked a million Jap and Korean virgin Wii's right now!!! Now the inevitable question... which games work, and when/where to eject the disc without getting the error... I noticed that was a gamecube game u launched in ur vid... tbh, i thought if the wii were running in GC mode it wouldn't reset to a wii game (or does wode get past that)... but what do i know. Anyways, what game did u use to launch indiana jones in your video?

thx man!

it only shows up as gamecube since there is no opening.bnr on the VC partition. its running in wii mode, hence the request for a classic controller.

Hence the reason I asked my previous question. We thought it was running in GC mode, and for that time I saw NO reason to get the iso to be the same region as the system menu's.
Glad that's over. *fetching SSBB disc*

Yeah atm, Smash Stack is the only way to save KOR wiis. Sucks.
I wonder when an exploit like bannerbomb is going to return... maybe never.

I will spent "wit MIX" 2 new qualifiers:

1.) 'header' : copy the disc header (first 256 bytes of sics) of the related image to the destination image.

2.) 'region' : copy the region info (32 bytes at @0x4e000) of the related image to the destination image.

more wishes?

Thank you man you looks working hard to help us

actually wiimm, with this, there is no need to even mix anything. you just turn a VC partition ( HBL* ) into a data partition.

To late: I have already inserted about 20 code lines for this. And i have found a bug: Option --name didn't work

im not saying much about that ^ until i have tested it farther.

but on a different note, you can simply start mariokart from your region. but dont press any buttons. it the strap screen, it will give you enough time to eject the game and insert lego indiana jones and press reset.
