I don't use payloads enough to warrant a hint / reminder screen for them but I'll take any excuse for further customisation..

Health & Safety bottom.
My first theme/edit. For anyone that wants a simple bottom splash screen. Inspired by the Nintendo DS boot screen.

Goes best with these types of top splash screens:
Updated for Luma3DS.

I'm a noob to this, I tried to drop the splash.bin into the luma folder and I never see anything after booting? Am I missing a step?

WORKED! thanks, whats the difference of booting before or after payloads in the luma settings?
You know how when you press a button to boot into something say Decrypt9, for example? Before shows the splash screen before you're able to boot into aything, which is pretty much only used for the splash screens that show what buttons boot into what. The screen shows, then you are able to press that specific button to boot into whatever program you had assigned to that button. After shows the splash screen after you are able to boot into your payloads. If you have After selected and you've seen your splash screen, it's too late to boot into any payload. After is basically like how the splash screens worked before the last 2 or so Luma versions.

That explaination was probably as clear as mud, but w/e.

Makes perfect sense. thanks!

So I went back through this thread and saw the Lain images and was kind of inspired. Lain and the super (ultra?) computer and the whole hacking the "Wired" thing just feels like something that sort of fits the 3DS right now with all the exploiting and hacking going on and a lot of stuff going on elsewhere, so I did some googling around for wallpapers and threw something together that I guess seems ok. Anyway, I should share. I didn't really feel like adding anything like a "loading..." text or whatever -- particularly since the actual splash screen display is insanely fast no matter what boot method you use as the real loading process takes place outside of this part anyway. I tossed in the JPG images I was working with before resize if anyone wants to start from them and add on some text or whatever, but I didn't bother with a multi-layer edit image or anything like that as it was really just a couple of filters and then a resize and a crop of the top (the bottom was so close I decided not to maintain the original aspect ratio.)
