Btw. I read up a little on cboot2 and if I'm not totally mistaken you would need a wad-version of cIOS rev11 to get this to work. I don't think one exists on the net...
At least to make it work permanently without a hassle. You might be able to install VC-games this way though...

I thought i heard Puma said that if you Install any IOS's or cIOS's on a LU64+ Wii, it would brick it.
Im pretty sure i read it right

Not necessarily. Let's say that you have a LU64+ Wii and you try the IOS35 downgrade trick. You wouldn't brick your Wii but anything that runs off of IOS35 would refuse to run. Forcing a system update would likely fix that.

You'd brick yourself if you tried to do something like downgrading your System Menu or its IOS, but using some method to install the LU64fix.wad wouldn't brick anything since it doesn't overwrite any existing Nintendo firmware and is confirmed to work on LU64 systems anyway.

There's the LU64fix.wad that SoftMii released a while back. I don't know if that's Rev11 or Rev10.5 or what, but it'll get the job done.

Well, just for everyone's information, I just got home and am going to go about trying it shortly. (by it I mean installing a trucha bugged IOS using cboot2 and BootMii Beta 2 as an IOS). If anyone would like to suggest which bugged IOS I should install, it would be greatly appreciated.

I think it tells you what IOS to download in WiiGator's blog. It's somewhat disjointed but all the instructions are there.
It suggests ios36-64-v1042.wad there but that won't work on LU64+ Wiis. So the only option is the LU64fix.wad

Doesn't matter. A vulnerable version of IOS36 won't run on new starlets. And a new version doesn't help you as it doesn't have the signing bug.
So like I said. The LU64fix.wad is the only option there is.

I'll just mention my experience if it helps anyone.

Got a new Wii from Nintendo after my last one died. It was brand new, and the PAL equivalent of LU64, LAH11+. It came with 3.4 installed.

I did the twilight hack for HBC, then used the LU64+ fix package from Softmii to get cIOS rev11 going. Now pretty much everything works (USB loader, USB forwarder channel WAD installed etc).

I'm not going to 4.0 yet, even though I really want Preloader, as I'm not sure which way to upgrade will be best/safest (Waninkoko or Nintendo), and not sure if I'll be able to install cIOS60.

Ok, it looks like I will have to postpone my test until tomorrow night (meaning my results will be back no later than 9 o'clock Mountain Time) due to the bug that you MUST have a gamecube controller to navigate BootMii due to a bug in the IOS version that breaks the ability to navigate using power/reset/etc. I will be borrowing one from a friend tomorrow. I really hope this works.

If you wish to wait til I finish tomorrow (if I do) I will type up a detailed guide for you and for anyone else who may want to try this on their lu64+ 4.0 Wiis. (I realize that my method may not work on all Wiis). I would type up what I would try, but I'm not very good with planning out things unless I have my hands on them.

So like I said. The LU64fix.wad is the only option there is.

One thing I've already observed is that the installer uses an unpacked IOS36 v1042 (or at least parts of it) to compile cboot2. I doubt it'll know what to do with the LU64fix.wad file. If cboot2 as it is doesn't work on the LU64 Wiis, then it'd have to be rewritten to work off of that cIOS.

Still, I think that someone with a LU64 on 4.0 should try cboot2 out first before ruling it out as it stands. It can't hurt anything to try it.

For future reference here are the instructions he gave for setting up the directory structure:

QUOTE(WiiGator @ May 22 2009, 05:56 AM) Sorry, I forget that you will need also the following file:
/00000001/00000024/v1042/cetk

1. Copy http://nus.cdn.shop.wii.com/ccs/download/0...0100000024/cetk to SD /00000001/00000024/v1042/cetk
2. Copy http://nus.cdn.shop.wii.com/ccs/download/0...000024/00000004 to SD /00000001/00000024/v1042/00000004
3. Get a tool for extracting WAD files (I assume that the WAD Unpacker will work http://www.elotrolado.net/hilo_bfgr-wadtools-v036_1010150 , on Linux you can use zeventig from http://git.infradead.org/users/segher/wii.git )
4. Get a backup copy of a game and extract the file BOOT2-v2-64.wad.out.wad (on Linux you can use negentig from http://git.infradead.org/users/segher/wii.git )
5. Extract the file BOOT2-v2-64.wad.out.wad and copy the files to the SD card. You will get the following directory tree on the SD card:
/00000001/00000001/v2/00000000.app
/00000001/00000001/v2/cetk
/00000001/00000001/v2/tmd.2

You may need to rename "tik" to "cetk".
You may need to rename "tmd", "title.tmd" or "tmd.title" to "tmd.2"

the new version of cboot2 he has on his blog is compatible with ios bootmii, but when i download it its just one file. and its not even a dol file.
what do i do in order to start the cbooting process on my wii

The installer for it is in this thread: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=156199

You should have a recent NAND backup just in case something screws up somewhere and you should also backup the bootmii/armboot.bin folder in your SD Card in case you ever need to run the normal BootMii.

Just know that if you go through with this you're probably the first one to test it out on a LU65 Wii. Have fun with that.
