You might want to give Dragon Quest Rocket Slime a go: it's an A-RPG, and the tank battles are awesome! It has plenty of content: secrets, slimes to find, alchemy, loot gathering, etc. One of my favourite DS games of all times (on all systems even).

If you have the facilities to play PS1 games in any way, try out the original Alundra. It's basically Zelda under a different name.

Rune Factory 3 is a good one. Unlike Zelda, it's an RPG, but it's still an Action game and it'sreally fun, you'll like it.

Try Avalon Code, Children of Mana, either Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, or Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals. That's all I can think of off the top of my head; they're all a bit more RPG than Zelda, with levels and stats and such, but the core action-adventure game, which is what I suspect you want, is still there.
