I threw it in a corner in my house because the walls had other stuff on it, but when I came back it disappeared? It's not in the water and the mason refuses to make another, so where the fuck did it go?

Ceremonial or Lightscale?

Cerimonial. The Lightscale is hanging on the wall next to the Scimter and ancient sawblade (the Goron one is still in the chest)

Did you wait for a Blood Moon? I think they reset and it will be back in the river.

Pretty sure you can use the Lightscale one for the quest also.
