I know of mfeplayer, but from what I understand, it supports swapping discs or reading off the sd.

Does the gamecube mode even make support of the wireless in the wii? If not, guess we'll have to wait until wii homebrew is figured out

I have a linux server in the home, and if there's such a way to implement a web front, and have the ability for it to on the fly transcode to flv for the wii, that'd work too I suppose. But can opera go fullscreen so that I get full screen video? I haven't fiddled with it too much. Also, the linux server is only p3 1ghz coppermine. Not sure if it'd be fast enough to on the fly transcode.

No. Gamecube does not have wireless, so Gamecube-mode does not have it either. You would need to wait for Wii-homebrew. I also doubt this, but I think Opera can go fullscreen (check the settings, i think you need to hit a certain button combo to do so) but I am unsure whether the Opera Browser for Wii has an internal video player.
