Hello,

I have a Japanese wii (Serial no. LJF.......last digit 4 in a square)...it was modded in bangkok and given to me. I don't know what's been done ..softmod...chipped..all other ways of modding. Im sure you can tell by now, I am a bit of a knothead when it comes to wii-hacking !

In a moment best described as duhhhhh...i upgraded to 4.2 via the wii's wifi connection while playing guitar hero metallica hoping to buy some songs...(now I know that you cant buy songs for metallica!)

While I Cant run the Original Pal GH: Metallica and World Tour cds, I Can run the burnt wii sport and mario kart cds...

I was directed by xzxero to follow his guide earlier...however at that time I was a lill fragile emotionally at the thought of not being able to complete Seek & Destroy on Expert level..Now after reading up a lot of the topics on this forum (I couldnt muster up courage to read the enormous 300-odd pages of the Noob sticky posts)

I wanna downgrade to whatever version was runnning on the Wii prior to 4.2U.

Am I right in understanding that I should use xzxero's 4.2 guide ? And follow all the 1a, 1b, 1c tasks all the way down to the optional number 7 ?

I have a 2Gb Sandisk SD card.....I don't have the GC controller.

.......where do I start ?

TIA to all you rockstars ! You do a fantastic job here ....

downgrade = fail

Never downgrade a Wii. It can only end in tears. You can do anything on a 4.2 wii that you can do on a 4.1 or 3.2 wii. FACT.

This is wrong. You cannot run any burnt CDs. Burnt DVDs perhaps, but not CDs. They are not the same thing.

Anyway, my suggestion is BUY your games, they work so much easier, much less hassle. Use homebrew as it was intended, for hobbyist coders to make useful games and apps, not for warez.

Ok...so the Wii Sport is a burnt DVD.

I have BOUGHT the original Guitar Hero Games.

Don't have homebrew. Don;'t know what it is used for. Im not a extensive gamer. I only have a burnt wii sport and mario kart DVD. Two Guitar Hero games. I just wanna be able to play guitar hero and maybe BUY some more guitar hero games later.

So....what do you suggest.....

So far I gather that ...I shouldnt downgrade. I should be able to make some changes somewhere on the 4.2 that can allow me to run my original games.

Still calling on the A-Team.

Who made homebrew possible on Wii? Team Twiizers.
Who made HBC and BootMii, used by every warez guide? Team Twiizers.
Who is against piracy? Team Twiizers.

The REAL homebrew devs, the ones releasing the exploits making it happen etc. (Team Twiizers, Comex...) are all against piracy.

Homebrew =/= warez. Homebrew is not designed for warez. It is hijacked by people wanting to be made famous who make warez apps, which the true devs could make in a day, and everyone worships them.

I was not joking. Dont laugh.

Back on topic: You say you did buy the games? Then just play the originals. No problems.

disc channel seems to be more picky about what it will load, but you don't need to use it.

Japanese Wii & Pal games, which on 4.2 won't load in disc channel. You need something like geckos.

True, but don't forget:
Backup Launcher =/= Warez launcher either
In many countries, you can legally create and play your own backups
The fact that those loaders are used for Piracy is a side-effect

It's easy for people to say "I'm against piracy. I code apps to be used for homebrew purposes only."

But do we honestly know what's on people's systems? Do we know that people aren't just trying to cover their asses?

I suggest YOU cry more, lame ass.
Maybe you should stop attempting to flame people with three times the IQ of you.
Wait, it would have to be more than three, right? Yep, I thought so.
