I’m trying to cleanup/update an old Wii I came by, it has been clearly modded by the previous owner with mods that appear to be quite outdated.
I’m asking for advice because I’m trying to use ModMii, and I got stuck.
The first point I’m not so sure about is what is going on when I run SysCheckME, since it does not correctly recognize the console, labeling it as Unknown (in the pasted csv report below “sconosciuto” is the Italian for “Unknown”).
If I run the homebrew SysCheckHDE that I found lying in the SD I get the same result, except for it recognizing correctly the Wii as a Wii.
This is relevant because when feeding the SysCheckME .csv to ModMii (SU option) it refuses to start the analysis process, stating that the “unknown” console is not supported.
If manually modified from “Sconosciuto” to “Wii” ModMii starts processing the .csv correctly.
Am I making a catastrophic mistake here forcing ModMii to recognize the Wii as a Wii?
Anyway, I tried to check if I could proceed with the guide at this point, but HackMii stops working after displaying the “Scam” alert, but before prompting to press “1” to continue.
I set up at this point the HackMii Solutions process, but I stopped there figuring out that coming here for advice may have been a good idea.
If it may help, on the SD I found these homebrews:
If it has been installed, does that mean that following the guides should I refer to the system being on 4.2 or should I refer to the displayed version in the System Menu (3.4E)? Up to this point I acted like the system was in 3.4E, selecting it when prompted by ModMii.
Also on the SD there were two cIOS folders:
My idea was to update to ensure compatibility with SDHC/SDXC for future proofing, does it make sense?
