Hacking lan adapter and usb hdd

Okay, it looks like my wireless router is on it's last leg and I don't feel like buying a new one, so I'm gonna go with LAN for a while. My question is, can you use the wii lan adapter with a usb hdd considering they're both usb. Is it just a case of connecting the lan adapter to the inner/top usb port and usb hdd to the outer/lower port?

Yup. I've had the LAN adapter since it came out. I wouldn't game without it.

Lan up top. USB HDD on bottom.

Seems to work with cIOS222 and cIOS249.
