Kyty, a PS4 and PS5 emulator, gets v0.1.0 release

kyty.png

After PS4 emulator GPCS4's update a couple of weeks ago, a new release has gone live for another emulator: Kyty. Like GPCS4, Kyty is still in its early stages of development, with the only release being v0.1.0. However, the main difference is that Kyty's developer calls the software an emulator for both PS4 and PS5 systems (even if graphics for PS5 is not yet implemented). While the Kyty GitHub page notes that users can encounter graphics glitches, crashes, freezes and low FPS, v0.1.0 can run some simple PS4 games on Windows 10 x64 systems.

In addition the following features have yet to be implemented:
  • Audio input/output
  • MP4 video
  • Network
  • Multi-user
Kyty is thus very much in its early stages but it might be worth keeping an eye out for progress in its development. To try it out, you can head to the official GitHub page linked below.

You can't get Ps5 roms before teh console gets jailbroken atleast i think so
And you would need a nuclear powered pc to play Ps5 emulator
Both are factually wrong.

As for ROMs, its not hard to find means to pull them if you know what you're doing and are in the right group to do so. As for methods, again its not always as straight forward. Remember when someone tried to sell PS5 Dev Kits awhile back and got caught? Do you honestly think those were the only ones to ever be floating around the net? You look in the right places and have the right resources its not that impossible to get one. Sure enough these could do the job.

Also "nuclear powered PC" is a stretch, most medium/higher end graphics cards can probably put out the same kind of graphics if not better than what Sony is. It becomes more about custom chipsets and software compatibility than anything else. It takes a lot of power to emulate something that is comparably modern but its far from insanely high standards. Hell I remember when people back in the late 90's would speculate that to emulate the N64 or the PS1 on PC you needed super high end borderline supercomputer to do so, when that was just absolute over reach and were achievable within a few years after their release.

It becomes about accessibility of tools, understanding the software and hardware and finally being decent enough with your code that you can make something work efficiently.

Tell.me if im wrong, but i guess the emulators dev can always optimize the emu for some software combinaison so that it runs faster on it
For example :
Intel cpu with nvidia gpu with ddr4 ram with ssd
If they do that toa maximum of combinason, then i guess it will run faster on more pc, right?

If it doesn't have the green bar I'm not interested

But more seriously I can't imagine a PS5 emulator will be feasible for a long time

Wow PS5 emulator is out before PS6 emulator! Nice! Can’t wait to play Horizon 2 at full speed in 4k lol

Seriously, what’s the point of working on a PS5 emulator as we all know nothing will be playable at all for the next 10 years and the emulator will be abandoned before anything get playable?

Well, its still a ps4 emu, and 80% of ps5 games are also on ps4

That is one option. The emulator if its good enough can downscale processes to meet the hardware its running on without sacrificing too much to the gameplay. Emulators have done this in the past with render limits and whatnot. It depends on the complexity of the hardware involved as well. One of the problems with the PS3 for instance was that the architecture was so oddly designed from a top/bottom matter that it was just a pain in the arse for everyone involved in the development of games for it. Emulation would have become just as much as one until they could hit some base configurations and figure out the complexities involved. Sometimes its just not a barrier of entry of power either and its just something in regards of proprietary hardware that has zero public documentation which becomes the hard part of reverse engineering it. That's why shit like the OG Xbox is still considered a tough nut to crack in figuring it all out.

Because emulators get developed over night and when we do get powerful enough hardware (even though the ps5 and xbox sx are just fancy looking mid-end pcs with custom OSes), that's when development should start, right??

The fact that most of the ps4 library are also PC ports, I don't get the hype of this but good news I guess. Getting your hands on exploitable ps4 or just erm download PC games is the better option for now to those who think otherwise.
