Not to mention this is impossible. You can't write to Nintendo DS games, just read from them, hence the acronym "ROM", read only memory. The games themselves are mass produced and imprinted on to the memory, they aren't saved there like your typical hard drive. You can't simply copy a new game over to them or update the existing game. All you can basically do is replace or modify the save data and thats it.

It's not illegal for you to import the bloody game. It's illegal for you to sell modified copies of it without the proper licenses, which is impossible to get as I previously mentioned. Do you realise how many laws you'll be breaking and how many companies will be lining up to sue your ass? Just drop the idea.

then what of importing, translating, and distributing?

Then why don't you try and do it for yourself.
See what happens o_o

Wow. I've never seen so many people start ripping on someone's idea so quickly. Narin has the right idea, people. Explain what is wrong with the idea and how it isn't possible, don't just say "LOL OMGEE HE IS DUM", or "lol wut a tard". Lets all be a bit mature, here, shall we?

Narin pretty much summed it up. Nintendo may very well have allowed you to release this "translated" version. However, because Anime wasn't mainstream in America for a long time, different companies have picked up the licenses to the Shoen Jump characters. If all the Shoen Jump characters were owned by, say, Shoen Jump America, then if you had their permission you could definitely have released this, and Nintendo probably already would have. All the companies who own Shoen Jump characters would never agree to do this, unless you had a hell of a lot of cash to buy all the licenses and put them under one banner.

All of this is irrelevant, though, due to the fact that a DS cartridge is made of ROM and not able to be written to.

I hate to see someone get attacked for a question or idea. Lets all settle down, please.

Narin has it down exactly as it should be.

Not to mention if you were able to do that, you'd need permission from every company involved in the game here in the US. All those animes and manga are owned by different companies here in the US, while is Japan it is all one. That made it much easier to distribute in JPN rather than US. It'd take to much time to get permission, so they never got around to it.

DAMNIT! i came here before i got to flame anyone

Good job narin on the rom thing, i learned something and hopefully he wont say "Well what if . . . . ."

You really haven't thought this through

Do you have your own manufacturing plant, where even if you could somehow get permission (which will not happen without a very large sum of money) where you could produce copies of your unprofessionally translated version and manage to get them into shops.

Plus AFAIK there is already a partly translated version.

The most you are going to manage is to do a translation project and hope for donations

Don't tell me what to do, fool.

You should import the game, translate it, sell it, get sued/imprisoned, become someones prison bitch and make a reality show about it! Call it "n00b."
I came here to say what Narin and Private|Parts already did but since they took the mature response I thought I would handle the more humorous and less mature response.
