So instead of a basic release (Note I'm not even saying alpha, because alpha implies it'd have bugs or be incomplete) of rules and names I get to wait another two months for something that may not come at all and has unwanted parts?

edit: for advice, of course. they're near completion of the mother3 so they're very busy.

@freelix: Sometimes when in doubt I ask myself who are we working for: I'm yet to hear from a single translator/corrector/cleaner/hacker to speed up the project and release it as is; this is rather the comment from someone who isn't involved in the project and isn't interested in volunteering. Want to see the patch coming out soon? Sweet! So do I! I'm a volunteer, what are you doing to speed it up?

to everyone else: if you would like to see this project completed faster, then please help!

you can help by playing the game and understand the game. then apply your game knowledge to correct the translations. for example, if you seen certain status-effects happen in the game.. perhaps you can help with clarifying what exactly happens in the game (as opposed to a translator's literal translation).

you can help by cleaning up grammar and spelling mistakes, and you only need English knowledge to do so. if you have minimal Japanese skills on top of strong English skills, then maybe you can even try to clean up the pharsing of some of the translation.

even if you can't do any of that, if you have good online social skills, maybe you can help recruit other people (translators, correctors, rom hackers, etc) to join the project. spread the word!

2 questions:

I am bad at patching games so will you be allowed to post the edited rom for download for this special occasion? since it won't be the real rom...

and also, will the saves we have for the japanese version be compatible with the patched jus?

No. If you can't patch, then don't. We can't post any types of roms here. Although, if you can read, you can probably be able to patch the game.

From what has been said earlier, the (J) saves can work with the patched game.

Shouldnt everyone stop arguing? Lots of people here are new (like me) and want this project to go through. I didnt find out about JUS untill 3 weeks ago. Of course, like other people, I could play through the whole thing through trial and error and completed like 99 percent of the game. I have no idea what the cards do or who half those people are. but I completed it. I dont know what the story is but it is still a good game. If you acually finish this translation, I would love it, but I know I will never know what those cards are or the storyline of this game, if you keep bitching to each other.

these post about the progress of the project is getting pretty annoying. lets get back to actually working on the project and not respond to every irrelevant post.

Honestly, I expected that by posting the requirements for an ideal translator for the tutorials, someone would pop out and say "Yai, I love writing fanfiction and I'd like to take care of this specific part of the translation!".

i guess since no one is volunteering i might take a stab at it. but that depends on how long it is. i think i remember you saying that 4 files needed to be redone. i can start off with one. i've played through the game and have knowledge of japanese. the only thing getting in the way would be my life. cant do too much free work =P

It's not completed, but it has all the necessary things to play the game (except the tutorials, because they couldn't translate them for technical reasons)

Hi everyone,

I'm sure some of you will be very happy to hear that I actually took the time to read the complete thread so even though I only came upon it a few hours ago I do actually understand what's been going on here and just how long and hard some of you have worked on making this project a success. Quite frankly, I applaud you! I've seen far less dedication to many a commercial project where those involved in it would actually stand to reap substantial financial benefits from it. To think that you kind-hearted people are actually willing to sacrifice such a large portion of your own free time in order to make all of us happy, surely you should be dubbed veritable saints of the modern age.

I realize full well that I come to you at a late junction, but even so I would gladly offer my services should they still be needed. I regret that I cannot hope to decipher even the smallest fraction of Japanese text so I will of no be use with regards to translation. However, I do teach English as a second language and as such I’m quite familiar with the ways in which English grammar can be tortured beyond recognition. In that respect I should be able to comprehensibly rewrite any text that contains within itself at least a clear purpose as to its content into a more linguistically pleasing piece.

Furthermore I have been an anime and manga fan for many a year now and I possess a great deal of knowledge when it comes to quite a number of series that are being represented in Jump Ultimate. Bearing this in mind I think I could quite easily write short introductions to a number of these should this be required of me.

In short, what I’m saying is use me as you will.

We are especially on the lookout for those willing to write up a section or three of the piece.bin file (it is effectively an encylopedia entry for each of the featured anime and as such is not required to have a translation) although you are welcome to do whatever.
