Hacking It's 2016.. can we play DSiWare?

Friends, I've been getting different answers for this.

I got a DSi with the latest firmware and I'm using the 3ds blue catridge which is a R4i to play games.

I've got the .nds file from no-intro romset for legend of zelda four swords anniversary but when it gets lanched it hangs at a white screen.

Can this game be played on the DSi?

The issue is probably that the cartridge you're using doesn't boot into DSi mode.

.... And as far as I can tell no flash cartridge can do that. :/

Only the Cyclo DSi can do that.
You could quickly grab one of the exploit games and hardmod+downgrade your DSi to gain access to DSi mode.
Tho no DSi ware backup playing is possible as of now.

Just get a hackable 3DS. You can already install .cia's of DSiWare games there.

DS and DSi Ware titles look like shit on the 3DS though.

I was actually able to start playing this game on my old 3ds, not on my new 3ds tough, the problem is the pain in the ass it was to install it.
You need to be in CFW mode and this isn't compatible with Gateway mode.

I sure hope things are better now, I did all this almost an year ago.

I read somewhere that the original R4 can be forced into DSi mode. I haven't verified it, even though I have one.

DS and DSi Ware titles look like shit on the 3DS though.

Holding start or select whilst booting a DS/DSi game will set it to the original aspect ratio

3DS only, and if he had a 3DS he could just install DSiWare cias

This is for windows. We are discussing running DSi Ware in a Nintendo DSi hardware.
