actually the best cart to buy would be a supercard DStwo, you can play gba on that as well as ds roms. buuuut it a tad pricey, around 40$ but worth it. it will also work on any 3ds as well.
i kick myself for even buying any r4 devices back in the day.

ask for it as a present. or what i use to do when i was younger. just tell your parents that this device actually saves you money, you buy this once and you wont need to buy anymore games because this is every game. they always fell for it lol.

I wouldn't buy the DStwo because the gba emulation is pretty bad. Just buy a cheap clone cart for $10.

There are a lot of options.
