I was playing around on my hacked out Wii U on just the gamepad while watching some football on TV and I got to thinking. There should be a rechargeable battery pack for just the Wii U system so they it can be powered anywhere seven without an outlet. That way you can carry it with you in a carrying case or backpack, and just pull out the gamepad to play a wide selection of games, giving more of a portable experience to the system. Yet I looked and it doesn't seem such a product exists. Has anyone seen anything like this? I'd love to be able to do this.

The wii u draws 12v 4amp so any 12v battery that suplies 4amp wil be fine as long as you can slice it in with a spare wii u connector from a cheap or broken psu. I wouldn't reccomend usinging a powerbank that outputs mains ac as the voltage conversion down to 12v is very inefficiant

Good to see the idea is totally viable, shame there is no official product to buy, but rather something we'd have to assemble ourselves.

I doubt you'd find anything that can be reasonably portable, without being too big and bulky, and also makes sense from a cost perspective.

I was going to write how to connect it to a battery, but then I watched that video above and realized he explained already, specifically the 12V DC battery directly to the unit and converting it to 15V, skipping the conversion to AC.
