Gaming is Soma Bringer worth the time??

yep, the story is lame...so far....graphics is one of the best for a ds game, simple but eye catching and sounds are pretty good too, ..i don't have a friend that have a DS...geez, i quit...haha...button smashing is not my game...any suggestion?? .... i wish my Tales of Innocense save wasn't corrupted so i can play it, im too lazy to start over...been 10 hours on it...haha...lazy..

I heard a lot about this game, and something told me I shouldn't get it when I saw that it was around $5 at pretty much every place that sells it.


It would be a good game if it actually had some gameplay. 1 hour of story, 10 minutes of gameplay. Then another hour of story. Tried to ignore it at first and press on, but it only gets worse. A frustrating game for that reason alone, but that's just because I prefer to PLAY games, not watch them.

EDIT: Finished Downloading the game... Already playing it... Trough No$Gba... because my DS is charging...

but i think my rom is hacked because all the characters are unlocked except for the 2nd character... i think it's the girl... the rom's filename started with 6rz... because it's the only one i can find... but the English patch worked!

Haha.. It wasn't hacked, it's supposed to have those characters, the missing "???" is Idea...


@concealed identity - Yup, it's almost watching , a little gameplay and so much talk, and what really annoys me is the story, it wasn't that good.. geez, i played all the job/classes, and the only different in gameplay is the skills, almost all of them are button smashing except for the Soma job...

Sure. It's a pretty solid ARPG with zero replayability, for me. My friends and I beat the game on the "normal" first playthrough difficulty, and then made it a stage or two into the "hard" retread and just... didn't care. I can deal with some games in that format, but something about it - shitty stage design? nothing truly amazing? - made me not care at all.

It looks nice, and has a uniqueness to it, but that uniqueness doesn't lend itself to anything even remotely new from the genre.

maybe it's really not my taste, they say that it has deep customizatio, i just don't feel it , it's the same button smashing except for the mage class...

The game is alot better when you play multiplayer, the battle system may just be button-mashing but the engine is pretty cool how u can smash the monster up and kinda juggle them like it was Tekken. Its also nice that when you use skill points to see how a move works you can instant reset if you dont like it. Overall its a sweet game XD i just got alot of stone element on my stuff and just button mash->petrify->then smash them into pieces (except for bosses)

It's one of the few DS games (and one of the fewer DS RPG's) that didn't fall victim to Pirate Syndrome.

In my opinion - NO, it's simply not worth the time..

I found it so ridiculously easy and repetitive that I stopped playing... and didn't really go back.

And it's not just the fact that it's easy - I usually LIKE easy games - but it just felt like you were doing the same basic things again and again...

Every so often there's a story sequence, but it never feels like the story is important in any way.. it's just an excuse for you to be fighting generic monsters >___< And I didn't really warm to any of the characters or care about them...

Just a reminder - THIS IS JUST MY OPINION.. And I did play for quiiite a few hours before I got bored, before anyone says I should have given it a chance :/

EDIT: I kinda feel really bad for saying all that... because DarthNemesis did such an amazing job with the translation.. But it is definitely a game that should have been localized and given a chance by publishers, regardless of what I think about it

For Christ's sake it takes not even 10 minutes to download, patch, and put it on your cart. Try it yourself and find out. I find it stupid when people ask on whether or not they should pirate a DS game. Even the biggest DS games won't put too much of a dent on your bandwidth (if you have limited bandwidth), they download in like 5 minutes, and it's incredibly easy to delete them off your cart or just not use them if they're mediocre.

Just play it yourself and find out.

But you know, asking if a game is good or not is okay, since he already said he tried it out a bit and wants to know whether it's good or not - we all know how some games have tedious beginnings.

Plus, on page 2 of this discussion he had already tried the game out once again and then dropped it because of repetitivness of combat, so you don't need to be so hasty in telling people off.

everyone's has an opinion, in my place, if i'll download 50mb, it will take like 1 hour and 30mins, i don't want to waste my time and speed if a game is not that good for me, so that's why i asked.. Fel is right there are some games that is not good at the start but as the time passes by, you'll be surprise it's a good game or epic...(chrono trigger IMO, not that good in the beginning, but one of the best game i'd ever played)..

If you have someone to play with, then it's definitely worth the time.
Otherwise, just know that this is an hack-n-slash action RPG with a decent but short (10-20 hour) story and little replay value (New Game + just becomes harder), so I'd still say it's worth the time.
