Smea has confirmed that he isn't working on anything else major until the N3DS is more mature. The only notable way I can think of kernel access is memchunkhax, which was patched in 9.3. It will most likely be a whole new exploit with another project name if Smea even does something new.9.2 is almost guaranteed to have kernel access via ninjhax in the near future.

No, Smea isn't the only hacker, but the comment I replied to referencing Ninjhax, Smea's work. You guys think Smealum is the only hacker? Have you forgotten kernel access was achieved before he even started his work? Did you even finish reading his post that said 9.2, not 9.3 <
I can see that, but he mentioned in a later post someone else picking up where ninjhax stops and reversing gw's work. Which wouldn't be impossible. No, Smea isn't the only hacker, but the comment I replied to referencing Ninjhax, Smea's work.
I would assume that someone with the correct skills could use the already created Ninjhax stages with the memchunk hack to gain kernel access, but it would be a bit dumb to do that as Ninjhax relies on stages that have been patched. GPU DMA hacks have not been patched, and paired with a memchuck hack and a WebKit hack, we could have kernel access without prior purchases in theory. I have neither the time or extensive knowledge of the system to accomplish this. I bet Yellows8 has something up his sleeve he has been saving for the N3DS, though.I can see that, but he mentioned in a later post someone else picking up where ninjhax stops and reversing gw's work. 3ds+emulation=3d emulation, hopefully soon.I don't get the obsession of emulation when any modern day smartphone can emulate a plethora of devices. Even better get a Vita or PSP which already has a ton of established and working emulators, save states and all. I do enjoy playing old Nintendo games on the 3DS but PS1 is a little much, at this rate it won't be long before people start asking for Wii emulation.
Yeah, you fucked that theory in the ass.A while ago, many people also said that the 3DS wasn't powerful enough to emulate a SNES, or was unfit for that task for whatever other reasons. We know how that went.
There's only one way to know if the 3DS can emulate a PS1 or a N64. Try out.
Same deal regarding emulating a Wii, but I think that's largely no
I trust the strenght of the 3DS so I say it's very likely that the 3DS is capable of emulating PS1 games at maximum speed. All that it takes is access to all the 3DS' hardware and the most important thing, proper coding.yes it is.
proper question would be:
Is the 3DS powerful enough to play playstation games via an emulator at a decent speed?
And most likely the answer to that is No.
