yes it is.
proper question would be:
Is the 3DS powerful enough to play playstation games via an emulator at a decent speed?
And most likely the answer to that is No.
With ninjhax which doesn't have access to all service and total RAM, it could be very hard.
If we have access to all services and full ram, something could be done but with bad results (Take as example PS1P for PSP )
With the N3DS, maybe you could get a slightly playable framerate.
Yeah, we need kernel access to do anything spectacular. This irrational fear of piracy is restraining. I'm tempted to buy a GW just so I can run decent homebrew. Not saying ps1 emulation would be possible. Just pointing out how everyone is running into roadblocks and looking for further exploits just to do the simplest stuff with ninjhax.
9.2 is almost guaranteed to have kernel access via ninjhax in the near future.
I'd just use a PSP tbh. And you can play GBA, SNES, N64, etc...it's the perfect emulation machine.
I still use my PSP too. I'm hoping that soon the emulators being developed for 3DS will have 3d rendering.
On PSP you have full kernel access.
Instead, talking about PSX emulation on PSP, POPS can load a full framerate PSX title cause titles are converted to POPS title and also cause PSP uses a similar hardware of PSX. [If you want to see a PSX emulator for PSP which doesn't use a conversion to PBP, just see videos of PS1P...]
Where did you read that?
I really want that to be true
Come on dude. Obviously it's his opinion based on how ninjhax works and the progress being made with homebrew.
Ok. Then it is pure BS. It will never happen
Problem is that opinions don't work here. You either have evidence or it's just pure speculation. The world is filled with the latter.
I see what you're getting at now. But it doesn't mean it won't happen either. I'm not on either side of the argument, I was just saying it would be cool.
Snes emulation on the PSP isn't that great since the version of Snes9x it uses has really bad DSP emulation code. Snes emulation on 3DS already has far superior audio, much better SPC emulation. N64 emulation on the PSP is also quite sub par and was only a proof of concept. PSX emulation however, is gonna be superior since the console has the advantage due to the MIPS architecture (PSX and PSP both have MIPS).
ARM11 kernel access is already possible, from there that just leaves an exploit to gain ARM9 kernel access, of which we know there is at least one since Gateway uses it, and Yifan Lu and others are actively reversing it.
I used to use dstwo，there was a way to install linux os on dstwo system，and then a playstation emulator can be runned.
Yes,it's slow, but worked
give 404 error
An emulator on 3DS? Yes.
Running at a decent speed? Sure. If the success of the Snes emulator is anything to go by.
Maybe the reason is that it‘s a Chinese BBS，
