Alright, let's make this easier if you put in your R4 ds WITHOUT microsd card and it says something other than "Could not find TF/SF Card "It's defective". If it does give you that error then its most likely a microsd issue.

Also, if you tried the SD Formatter tool and it didn't work or it didnt recover all your space its your READER's fault.

Another cause could be the fact that you just pull out the microsd without using the "Safely remove hardware"-
option on your lower right in Windows XP? If you just pull it out, that WILL cause your microsd card to corrupt.

Do not scratch/wet you microsd card ever...

Nuh uh! Mine does that all the time, and when I adjust the card it's fine afterwards. When it says "SD/TF Card Error" then you're screwed, probably a corrupt card. Speaking of which, I had better back up my stuff again soon.

Make sure your SD card is NOT SDHC. The R4 is not/never will be compatible with SDHC. Its not possible.

EDIT: You do NOT have to use the "safetly remove hardware" function of XP. Only if you pull out the SD card while the computer is trying to write to it will you have problems.
